The Only 7 Things That Actually Move Menopause Belly Fat After 50

Menopause belly fat isn’t the same fat you used to carry — and it doesn’t respond to the same things.

Here are the seven things that actually get rid of it, plus a 30-second measurement you can do at home that tells you whether your belly fat is the kind that raises your health risk.

📘 Want the whole plan? Start with my book. Your Metabolic Reboot is everything I coach my clients on, in one place: the strength, the protein, the fiber, the movement, the sleep, the tracking. Written so you come away with a plan built around your body, not someone else’s. Note: it’s a digital book, not a hardcopy.

I’m Dr. Rachel Felber, an ER physician and a health and strength coach for women. No trends, no fads, no extremes. Muscle is medicine.

  1. If this one hit home, you're not alone — it's the question I get asked most. 💛

📘 Want the 7 things turned into a plan for YOUR body? That's my book, Your Metabolic Reboot (a digital download):

Do the waist-to-hip measurement at 20:19 and tell me your number in the comments. I read them all. 👇

  2. For 20 years, women were deprived of hormone therapy. It is unconscionable that medical research concerning women has been so feeble. I just started hormone therapy. It’s riskier, but it’s also risky to have osteoporosis, diabetes and visceral fat. Older women should talk to their doctors before ruling out HRT.

  3. But why are older European women who drink wine with every meal still thin? I suppose they don’t eat as many processed foods – Chips, cookies, etc. Dang, everything that tastes good has to be avoided.

  4. WHR is not applicable to everyone. I have very slim hips. I mean they are practically not there. It’s the only metric that is flagged on my body scale.

  5. After I started menopause I gained about 20 pounds. Nothing I tried got rid of it. Then I got diagnosed with prediabetes. After a lot of YouTube research (because my doctor was no help) I cut out all processed carbs like flour and sugar and started some extended fasts. Didn't really exercise more, still occasionally drank wine. My blood sugar went back to normal and I lost 20 pounds even though that wasn't my goal. Now I do weightlifting and get plenty of exercise, but still don't eat bread or crackers or chips but still have an occasionally glass of wine. Weight has stayed off and blood sugar still normal.

  6. Thanks for the information.
I don't understand why they can't come up with something magical that removes stress, pain, makes me sleep better. I have a high stress life. I've been riddled with pain starting when I was 10 or 11. I'm 53 now. I'm in constant pain 24/7/365. I call myself a walking cripple. Every move I make is painful. It certainly is a vicious cycle. Eating healthy is more expensive than processed stuff.
I force myself to get up after crappy sleep every night. I hit menopause early. I'm very active. I just take one day at a time.
Do you have any idea how draining it is to be in so much pain? Every joint has arthritis. Fybromyalgia covers about 80% of my body. Carpal tunnel both wrists. Soft tissue damage and a slipped disk in my neck. Tendinitis in my shoulder. Mild scoliosis in my lower lumbar that developed arthritis. My hips kill me. They randomly give out as does my knees on stairs.
Poor dna, poor diet growing up and multiple accidents. So much is out of my control.

Is there a laser surgery or something that can remove the access fat and skin for a jump start? Is there laser treatment for arthritis and fybromyalgia? Anti inflammatory pills barely affect me now. It doesn't help I'm allergic to sulpha products and other stuff.

  7. I do all of these, I am in the lower end of a healthy weight range with good muscle mass and my visceral fat is on the lower side of normal but I still have a belly so not sure what will work for me 😢

  8. Twenty years ago, we were told HRT caused breast cancer. It was a lie. It’s too late for people in our age group to add in hormones. And without hormones, we can’t sleep through the night. This is great advice for younger women though.

  9. There are a few GREAT STYLISTS channels on YouTube that will help 'camouflage' the problem areas while we WORK to improve 😉
Rachel, I've been listening to your videos all morning.
    GREAT STUFF ‼‼‼

  10. The video has good info, but I’d like to point out a few important things that could have been mentioned. While we all know we need to eat protein, fiber, and so on, what we really need to know is what our bodies struggle with when it comes to digestion. A food sensitivity test can shed some light on your eating habits. Even while I was eating healthy, my body was suffering because I had no idea that eggs, beans, and a few other foods were really taxing on my system. Knowing what your body can handle is important so you can avoid certain foods and plan your diet accordingly. It sure made a big difference for me.

The other thing I want to mention is fasting. I found my fasting window a few years ago and never looked back. I’m never starving or too full, and I feel great.

Strength training is important, and eating enough protein can be challenging, but there are ways; add some protein to your diet: overnight oats made with protein milk and protein powder, and chia seed pudding made with the same protein milk and powder mix. Before eating them, I toss in a few tablespoons of ground flax, some pumpkin seeds, and a small dollop of strawberry jam for sweetness. And going to the bathroom is a breeze, unless I don’t drink enough water!

Yes, having tests done helps you understand more about yourself, but whether or not you have insurance, it can be a financial challenge. I believe in My Body, My Diet. Find yours!
