In today’s episode of Figuring Out, we have Dr. Pal Manickam in conversation with Raj Shamani. He is a well-known Gastroenterologist who also creates content on YouTube and has over 2 million subscribers. In this episode, most of your questions about gut health and overall health are answered.

We started this episode by talking about what happens when our gut is not well, then he shared various experiments on mice like how gut bacteria influence mood and behavior, and personality in the last 15 years. He shared how he went from 100kgs to 65kgs within 3-5 years. He shared how not eating at the right time and not eating right affects our health in the long run. He also answered questions like why bloating happens and how to solve it, foods that cause gas, why some people feel nauseous after eating, why many people are becoming lactose intolerant, and many such questions.

We also talked about why young people have started getting heart attacks, what causes fatty liver, do vegetarians have better gut than non-vegetarians, why people are getting fat, and why many women get fat after marriage. 1. thank you so much for sharing your personal experience Dr Pal. It must have taken a lot of courage for you to recall all those memories, and I can only imagine how much pain you and your wife endured losing your daughter. But you have risen above the sorrow and now have two beautiful boys, and both you and your wife show us your jolly and cheerful personality. It is hard to believe you went through so much pain. We are blessed to have someone like you to share medical matters in a simplified way where lay people can understand also. Thank you to Raj for hosting Dr Pal and asking relevant questions.

  2. The podcast is poor with Dr pal because he is talking research and all but he is not talking anything what is happening in medical science practically. It feels he does not have. Real experience while treating patients. He is an expert in talking about doing podcasts only .

  3. @dr pal thank you for sharing this my mom and dad is also fine and not related too but we both me and my brother is a proud disabled individual i am having Cerebral Palsy and my elder brother have small fingers with small palm
Yet we are proud to be disabled

  4. A big Salute to Dr. Pal and especially to his wife to go through such difficult times and still stay strong …Still keep hope …and finally getting a happy Family…May God bless you❤

  5. Hi Raj, to begin with I am a big fan of your work ❤

    1) In this podcast it would be great if you could let Dr Pal talk about circadian rhythm more in the sense he did not speak about what foods to eat and when

Please don’t switch topics too soon (I know I might not understand and know everything about podcasts but I believe it’s important to not switch topics as quick as you did in this podcast)
