Dietitian Reveals 3 WORST Diet Trends (Vegan, Keto & Fasting)

3 Popular Diet Trends You Should NEVER Follow Blindly! 🚨
Just because a diet works for someone doesn’t mean it’s the right diet for YOU.
Here’s what science tells us about three popular diet trends:
🥬 1. VEGAN DIET
A well-planned vegan diet can absolutely be healthy. But eliminating all animal foods creates nutritional challenges that shouldn’t be ignored.
• Vitamin B12 requires a reliable source through supplements or fortified foods.
• Iron, zinc, calcium, iodine, vitamin D and omega-3 intake may need special attention.
• Meeting higher protein requirements for muscle building can require additional planning and careful food selection.
**The concern isn’t that vegan diets cannot work. It’s assuming that simply removing animal foods automatically makes your diet healthier.**

🥩 2. KETO DIET
Keto can help with weight loss, but there’s another side to the story.
• Some people experience a significant increase in LDL cholesterol, especially when their diet is high in saturated fat.
• Restricting carbohydrates can make it harder to consume adequate fibre, fruits, whole grains and legumes.
• Long-term weight loss isn’t consistently superior to less restrictive calorie-controlled diets.
**Losing weight quickly doesn’t automatically mean you’re following the healthiest diet.**

💧3. WATER FASTING**
This one deserves particular caution, especially when prolonged fasting is promoted as a health hack.
• Rapid weight loss isn’t exclusively fat loss. Research on prolonged fasting has reported substantial losses of lean mass.
• Extended fasting can cause fatigue, headaches and electrolyte disturbances.
• Prolonged fasting followed by improper refeeding can be dangerous, particularly for people at risk of malnutrition.
**Your body doesn’t need days of starvation to start getting healthier.**

THE BOTTOM LINE
A diet shouldn’t be judged by how extreme it is, how quickly the scale moves, or how passionately someone promotes it.
Judge it by its nutritional adequacy, health outcomes, practicality and whether you can sustain it for years.
