Today, we’re going to talk about metabolism and what you can do to actually increase a slow metabolism.

How to increase metabolism:

1. Insulin resistance
If you have plateaued with your weight, it could be because of insulin resistance. To fix this, you need to lower insulin by doing keto and intermittent fasting.

2. Exercise
There are a lot of variables when it comes to exercise. Out of all of the variables, the intensity is the most important factor in raising your metabolism. It also stimulates growth hormone, which is the main fat-burning hormone. You want to do a full-body workout at a high-intensity level, but for a short duration with a long recovery.

3. Nourish
You may have destroyed your metabolism by doing a low-calorie diet, which is really a low nutrient diet. To fix this, you need to consume more nutrient-dense foods.

4. Enhance the thyroid function
To do this, you may want to consume more sea kelp, which has a lot of trace minerals. You also need to make sure you’re supporting your gallbladder, and make sure that your insulin is not too high. You would also want to avoid GMO foods.

What not to do to speed up metabolism:

You have things like caffeine, amphetamines, and ephedra that people take to stimulate metabolism. But, this can also stimulate adrenaline, which can cause adrenal fatigue, which can then lead to weight gain.

  1. I stopped loosing weight from keto + IF. How much less food could i consume? I don't want to eat once a day then go to once every other day. I can't loose weight anymore

  2. I believe that you missed a very important ingredient, our mental state. by that I mean, if you are slow, not in intellect but in processing, then our body reactions will be slower. Pretend that you are going to do a 100 yard sprint, that energy level that you feel is getting all of your muscles ready to run! At the same time it's burning calaries. If we learn to move faster than normal, I have lost or maintained my weight and i'm 76 years of age. Just a thought.

  3. I take at least 3700 calories on average daily, I am 39 kilos, I don't exercise, I don't even walk, I sleep only 4 hours per day, I don't eat iodized salt or anything with iodine, I eat a lot of sugar and I eat constantly. Probably the DNA is the most important factor.

  4. How do you gain weight lost so much since stop carbs due to type 2 diabetes but have a fast metaboilism so what can and how much should i eat as i am never full

  5. I enjoy listening to Eric so much, soon as I have money I’m gonna buy off his store. Starting with the electrolytes, there’s so many options I’m not sure which other ones to start with

  6. I lost wait unintentionally so I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and thyroid but my metabolism is very fast and it’s a problem to me I eat and go to the bathroom

  7. Focusing on nutrient-dense foods instead of low-calorie was a game-changer for my metabolism. Products like LyfeFuel really help fill those gaps.

  8. omg this cleared up something I’ve been stuck on for weeks, intermittent fasting and keto sounds amazing, also friend told me to get labs done before switching routines. did it with vital test hub and was surprised at the results

  9. I had a back injury and had to lay down most of the day for a year. Finally getting back to being active and my energy levels are garbage. I do muscle building now, for the last month, and am gaining muscle but most of the day I just want to sit around and rest. I felt something was way different. I went to a dexafit and got a dexa scan, vo2 max, and testing metabolic rate test. It was extremely informative. My metabolic rate as a 40 year old man that ways 187lbs was just above 1600 calories. A lot slower than I would expect. I was drinking 300mg or caffeine every day to stay going just to get through the work day and workout. Still sitting on my butt most of the day

I'm pretty carbohydrate conscious and stay in the ketogenic zone most of the time recently. But I have a feeling darn nicotine pouches and caffeine is wrecking my metabolism.

The crazy thing about caffeine is it does not have any calories, so it cannot give you energy. All it does is introduce a stress response. That raises your cortisol levels and dumps the glycogen from your liver into your body. All it does is release the energy you already have immediately for use. Now. That means later on in the day. You don't have that energy anymore because you used it all a few hours after you drank the caffeine. It also attaches to your adenosine receptors to avoid sleepiness. That makes your body create more receptors and when the caffeine starts to wear off all the sudden you have adenosine that wants to attach to even more receptors so you get more tired.

  10. I have been doing a metabolic workout for about 4 year and love it! ( 60 – 40 minutes 4-6 x weekly ) I am a 57 year old women. I use a step & risers & weights – i am thrilled with the results, I am careful about my diet. I look forward to my workouts & i listen to music to motivate me 🙂

  11. Hi Dr Berg. I simply don't have the energy and I think I have too much trauma in my body. My testosterone levels are low. Can I fix most of my issues if I start trt? Thank you And love your videos. Respect from London

  12. Thank you! Clear, easy to bring into my life style. I am already doing part of these things regularly. So now I will add more intense exercise cycles, more assistance to the thyroid. In gratitude I am now off for a vigorous walk followed by some weight training and QiGong. Smiling!

  13. I do belong to your groups under a different name my professional name however How can we get a 1-1Visit from you Is there any way I know you probably don't read these But I would love to know

  14. i lost 30 pounds in 3 1/2 months but found out that i plateau i fast 7 days and lost 13 pounds out of the 30. i came back to eating a very low calorie diet. tuna / eggs letture one a day eating. then i went and two days eat normal food once a day gain back 5 pounds, my metabolism is now so low because of my low calories diet. what i heard is feed the body with nutrients. necause going on another fast will not fix this it will make it worst.

  15. So, similar to predators in nature. A Lion will hunt like crazy for 5 minutes, then take a 3 day nap without drinking any coffee. 🙂

  16. Dr Berg, I started the keto diet then got constipated abd caused me some mild hemorrhoids… You should have warned us about constipation
