When it comes to Weight Loss for Women, counting calories is simply not enough. Food contains more than just energy—it contains hormonal information that tells your body whether to burn calories for fuel or store them as body fat.
In this video, we break down the science behind female hormones, perimenopausal weight gain, and the exact dietary strategies proven to help women lose stubborn fat while reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease by nearly 30%.
Why do so many women experience sudden weight gain and stubborn belly fat during perimenopause and menopause? It has nothing to do with a lack of willpower or discipline. As estrogen levels drop, women lose its natural appetite-suppressing effects, and body fat begins to
shift from subcutaneous areas (hips and thighs) to dangerous visceral fat around the abdomen.
Backed by a major 12-year JAMA study of 38,000 women and real-world clinical data, we explore why a Low Insulin Diet is the most effective approach for perimenopausal weight loss, diabetes remission, and long-term heart health. Plus, learn why maintaining adequate protein intake is
critical to prevent muscle loss (sarcopenia) as you age.
In this video, you will learn:
● Hormones vs. Calories: Why Calories In, Calories Out fails women and how hormones control fat storage.
● The Estrogen Effect: How the menstrual cycle and perimenopause impact your appetite by up to 500 calories a day.
● Visceral vs. Subcutaneous Fat: Why menopausal hormonals shifts lead to belly fat and increased heart disease risk.
● The Best Diet for Perimenopause: Insights from a 38,000-woman study comparing Low Carb, Mediterranean, Plant-Based, and Low Insulin (EDIH) diets.
● Protein; Sarcopenia: Animal vs. plant protein digestibility and how to protect your muscle mass and bone strength.
● Heart Health; Diabetes Remission: How a low-insulin ketogenic approach lowers 10-year cardiovascular risk by 28%

Can you guys tell me like I am five years old, how to lose weight according to this video?
Now do this talk for MENOPAUSAL, POST MRNOPAUSAL women. It's a NIGHTMARE!
Thank you Dr Fung ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊
I have been on intermittent fasting for 3 years, with low carbs, no sugar, especially in the evening, working out daily, and when I eat a piece of chocolate, it has to be after food, but I'm gaining weight for some weird reasons. (No thyroid problems). The only thing that I'm gaining from this, is I'm so flexible, better than when I was in my 20s.. Otherwise, I'm not losing 1lb, but gaining one!! I've never been overweight before my early Mnps.. 🤷🏻♀️
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏❤️🩹
Alternative day fasting, game changer 🙌for me
The thumbnail image of a pretty young woman who is a little overweight pinching her own stomach and making a face of horror. This is like AI ads that prey on women’s insecurity and their reactions to put-downs. Anorexia kills young women. If you want to help peri- menopausal women then make sure you are showing a clearly peri-menopausal woman and not like that. Bad taste. Do no harm
Isn't cheese technically an animal protein?
I’m 52, I’ve been in menopause for almost four years now.
I’ve been intermittent fasting for almost ten years. I’ve been on keto for many years, I don’t even remember now. I e switched to a mostly carnivore diet most days. I never have to worry about getting enough protein and I don’t have to worry about my weight.
Our bodies are changing and we have to change our diet and work on building muscle to stay healthy.
Thank you so much 👍💪
So what is the low insulin diet?
Im 43, on HRT and have been eating strict keto and fasting for about 9 months now. To date, I've lost 21lb.
Around the time I went through a big body composition change, where I lost alot of fat, I needed to change my Estrogen levels but other than that, its been an amazing journey so far.
I fast from day 2 of my cycle on and off depending on my appetite, the later part of my cycle I try to feed myself properly in prep for period.
I did introduce some sweetners recently and thats triggered migraines. I think its because I'm so clean I've become very sensitive to synthetics in my food.
Hello dr Jason Fung.
These who reversed their diabetes…. the fat they ate was it most from animal and oliveoil…? What about butter?
Grateful for answer … a 60 years old overweighted woman from Sweden, with good medicated heartfailur, moderate diabetes type-2 dysautonomia and mild fibromyalgia.
❤️🎉🕊️🥩
I already have a hard time getting enough protein throughout the day that intermittent fasting is not the best for me. I'm 48 and I work out 3-4 x a week; 2 days of cardio 3-4 days weight lifting. I try to focus on protein/fat/ carb balance for each meal. I weigh 155 lbs. and it's very difficult to reach 100 grams of protein per day. For me my focus is maintaining mobility and muscle mass for longevity and healthy bones.
You are a gift to humanity! You have no idea how much i needed to see this! Thank you 🙏🏽💐
can you please please please do a video on how to lose weight while taking insulin?
I really enjoyed watching Dr. Jason Fung’s video, "Weight Loss for Women – best diet for perimenopause", where he breaks down why perimenopausal weight gain is driven by hormonal shifts (such as the drop in estrogen) rather than a lack of willpower—explaining how a low-insulin diet helps manage weight and significantly reduces cardiovascular risk!
While watching, I had an idea for how the thumbnail could highlight that expert health advice and perimenopausal weight-loss guide even more strongly, so I put together a redesigned thumbnail for this video. What would be the easiest way for me to send it over for you to take a look?
🙏….FINALLY…. Thank you Dr. Fung for putting the focus on us Ladies in Perimenapuse, we appreciate Y❤U.🫶
Dr Fung..what about cortisol in us peri/menopausal women? I truely believe this also has a lot to do with the dreaded menopausal weight gain.
Scammers are using your photo, your voice making crazy scam videos for clicks and sell stuff, especially scam elderly. The channel names Dr. David Fung, Dr.Jason Fung….
We love you!!! You are the best!!!! Thank you for educating me!!!!!!
