I’m Ann Swanson — certified Tai Chi for Health instructor, Qigong teacher, and science author of books sold in 15+ languages. My original Tai Chi walking video, with 5 million+ views, helped spark this online trend. Now that the internet is flooded with misleading weight loss apps, fake AI “teachers,” and before-and-after photos that defy physics, I feel responsible to set the record straight with science.

If you’re a senior, beginner, or living with arthritis, knee pain, back pain, or other chronic conditions… YOU deserve honest, science-backed answers about what this gentle walking exercise for weight loss really delivers.

A Tai Chi Walking workout offers real, proven benefits — improved balance, fall prevention, stress relief, pain relief, and more. For the dramatic weight-loss claims, I looked at reviews of popular apps, including Mad Muscles, Lasta app, and Harna app.

  1. It's catchy AI advertising. It falls into the "too good to be true" range. I've actually clicked on it, right up till they ask for my credit card.

  2. I did sign up for a Tai Chi walking app. I didn't expect to lose weight as fast as the claims, I just needed to get moving. After the introductory offer, the price was considerably more than I thought it would be. So I cancelled, then they offered me 3 months for $1, so I accepted that and would have stayed for a few more months if the app had not disappeared from my device. When I reinstalled the app, all my progress was gone, and the new version was different. More aerobics and only some tai chi style moves to warm up, also different 'trainers'. I have cancelled, but it took some time to be able to sign into my account to do so. I have subscribed to your channel and will try some of your videos.

  3. I would like to try it I have sciatica. I saw some the how do you do a survey and when you get done with the survey they send you an email and you're the only one that is real.

  4. thank you for your free stuff. Having to sign up for free trials are annoying. im so glad i didnt have to do that with you.Love your workouts. you should put more on here after the free 14 days

  6. Not only Thai chi but so many fake video by AI !!! Isn’t it ridiculous that AI videos have been generated by the answers we want with out any effort and performance. We all want this but it’s not just going to happen. This is such a lie. So many other videos on investment and other businesses opportunities are floating around. The worst of all while it’s already happening people are happy to accept this fake videos. As the saying goes it’s too good to be true. Don’t fall for it. And thanks for sharing your views.

  7. Hi Ann – The only good thing about all those AI-generated sensationalistic ads is that they brought me to you. I asked AI to show me example of Tai Chi Walking for a senior male, and one of the videos it brought me to was this one. It's the first (and last) one I clicked on, and I am now subscribed and am about to watch your walking video. Thank you.

  8. Oh too funny, I got a fake Tai Chi Walking AI ad while I was watching your video 🤣. Thank you for the video and I have subscribed and will be watching more videos.

  9. Oh yes… way too many of them… that's why your videos are so refreshing. You can see and feel the Tai Chi movements in your videos.. Just wonderful how to, and the chance to become familiar with this wonderful practice and actually even do it! My mother did Tai Chi in her later years. She loved it, and it worked so well for her. She tried to reach me but simply couldn't slow it down enough for me to copy her 😀 Your offerings are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  10. Thank you! Though no longer teaching I was a certified Tai Chi for Arthritis instructor for over 10 years. Your video is the best response I've seen to the questions I've been asked about the Tai Chi walking craze. Applaud your recommendation to seek out a real person certified teacher. Thank you also for including a video clip of Dr Paul Lam with the Tai Chi for Health logo as a real Tai Chi instructor.

  11. The only way to lose weight is to eat less. I was hospitalized for a month after a stroke in June. It was an acute rehab hospital so there was therapy every day. After leaving the hospital, I still have 2x a week physical therapy. It is helping me get stronger, which is good because stroke makes you completely weak. I'm interested in Tai Chi because I hope it will help my brain relearn how to do things. The fact that it is slow appeals to me because I am living with a lot of fear that I could fall and that could be bad as I take a blood thinner.

  12. "In one week, you will feel it. In two weeks, you will see it. In one month, you will be snatched and toned. Your wife won't believe your results. Get the app, and start tomorrow…"
