The Best Fat Loss Plan for Women Over 40 | Build Muscle, Balance Cortisol & Lose Belly Fat

Forget the old “eat less, exercise more” approach. In this video, I am going to break down the real science of fat loss for women over 40. You’ll learn why calories matter, but where they come from matters more.

What You’ll Learn:
– Use protein, fat, and fiber (the “trifecta for satiety”) to keep hunger hormones in check.
– Protect your metabolism from muscle loss during weight loss.
– Avoid the cortisol trap of overtraining that leads to stubborn belly fat storage.
– Structure your workouts with resistance training, HIIT, and daily movement for optimal fat burning.
– Build a fat loss diet you can actually stick with for lasting results.

If you’re ready to lose fat, gain muscle, and age powerfully, this is your step-by-step roadmap.

  1. I’m loving what I’m learning from you! Thank you for the awesome, science backed tips! I’m 53, a lifelong athlete and recovering from major back surgeries. In fact, my neurosurgeon performed three back surgeries in one day. It was an 11 hour ordeal. I had some terrible car accidents in my 20s and they took their toll on my spine. I had sciatic pain so bad that I could not get around very well at all. Much less do the things I love. Cycling is my passion, but I also love walking at least 32 to 3 miles a day, resistance, training and yoga. I’m nine months out from the back surgery I had and I’m here to say my surgeon took the pain away! I’m eternally grateful however my body is very different. I’ve been in Physical Therapy three times a week for nine months to learn how to move around again with my new back. I can assure you just about the entire spine has been worked on and is comprised of metal… Cages screws, and rods plus some other materials that are a little more modern. I have had hypothyroidism since I was 35 but it’s never been a problem before in terms of weight loss. I am having a very hard time losing weight after my surgery and in fact, I’ve gained quite a bit of weight…. to the tune of 200 pounds. My usual weight is around 130 and I’ve never been over 140 in my life. I’m appalled at what I see in the mirror however I’m trying to give myself some grace considering what I’ve been through. I have not been faithful with my usual healthy eating, and in fact, I’ve gotten way off track. In addition to recovering for major back surgery, I experienced the loss of a very close family member so I’m grieving as well. Your videos have inspired me and educated me on some very important things that I didn’t realize. My biggest Takeaway from this video is to get a food tracking app and to not freak out about the weight but more so getting back into eating healthier. My biggest challenge will be getting off sugar. I plan to order your book, sugar impact diet! Thank you so much again!

  2. Thank you, great video! What’s interesting is how often women try harder when things stop working, but after 40 that can actually backfire. The body just needs a different approach.

  3. Loved all you said about nutrition and general guidelines for exercise. Loved that you reiterated the importance of gaining or maintaining muscle to age well, not just becoming skinny. Also loved that you mentioned mobility exercises and moving throughout the day as an important part of losing weight but cautioned against overdoing it and how it affects cortisol. All and all, wonderful stuff!! ❤❤ Well done!

Question, have you used Lumen for metabolic tracking? I use it and it helped for tracking and seeing my metabolic progress but wondering what your thoughts were on that device. Thank you and keep up the wonderful work!

  4. Do you have plant based options for protein ? There's no way I'm eating any animal products unless it's vegetarian cheese occasionally or honey. I have rescue cows for a reason

  5. I do not understand this protein obsession nowadays!!??? Where does it come from and who benefit from it? Do you think our parents or even our ancestors were eating too protein or sitting around measuring their protein intake? eating too much protein causes kidney disease! BE CAREFUL AND DO NOT LISTEN TO THOSE INFLUENCERS BC THEY CARE ABOUT HOW MANY VIEWS THEY GET & DO NOT CARE YOU OR YOUR HEALTH!

  6. I struggle because I have below normal leptin levels (2.5) even after gaining 25 pounds. I’m 32% body fat right now. I’m 46 in perimenopause and can’t lose weight, but it’s because I’m constantly hungry, even though I feel full. I can’t seem to override the desire to eat. I went from being in the best shape of my life at 44, to the worst shape of my life at 46. I have a very hard time tracking whole foods. When I was younger and ate processed food, tracking was easy, because food was in a package. I think I’m under eating protein and over eating fruit, mostly berries. I also crave dairy and probably get too much fat from it. I am also not strength training because I feel so tired and weak. I had abundant energy until I gained weight. I don’t know what I did to destroy my body and metabolism, but I sure am paying for it now. I hate my body now. I’m so uncomfortable living in it. I’m 5’5” and went from 120 lbs of solid muscle to 145 lbs of all fat. My body went from a size 2 to a size 8 in a year and a half. 😢

  7. This was so helpful! So straight forward, so doable. The hip thigh hinge movements seem a little out of my league with that gym equipment, but I’m sure I can find some substitutions.
