Thank you for all your wonderful tips. I struggle with night eating. I can be good all day long but come night is when I start eating all the junk food I can find.
Eating slower and more food at breakfast and lunch have helped me. Losing weight is a struggle, but we can do it!
Struggling with weight is no fun, especially when its due to age and menopause etc. I have started to add these changes to my routine (especially the protein in the morning) and avoiding sugar. It does work, you have to keep at it though. 😢😊
I think the best thing I do is working with a personal trainer. It’s helped my posture immensely to look slimmer.
Omgoodness, your story is my story! I've been on WW for 160 days and have gained and lost the same 3 pounds! And I've been frustrated!! My goal is to lose 25 lbs.
My dietician said focus on protein!! Which i wasn't doing
Then she said…. strength training!
I don't love exercise at all!!
In fact it's like fingernails on the blackboard!!
Well I'm so frustrated, so i joined the YMCA and went for my first time a few days ago…
And i dragged myself there kicking and screaming 😮
But i ran into someone who stopped and encouraged me…. and told me his wife was stuck and the scale was NOT moving.
So he works with her at home with weights and guess what…. the scale has gone down ⬇️
Such encouragement that i needed…. a God thing!!
Thank you, you encouraged me and i surely need that….as i need to be consistent with strength training. My first appt with trainer is on Thursday
Love your videos ❤😊
I’m losing weight and using Mounjaro, but I’m probably not eating enough protein. My loss is slow and steady. I’ve lost 45 lbs since April. I started the Mounjaro in June. But I started at 347 lbs and I’m 68. I do chair exercises 3 times a week. I can’t walk because my back is really bad, but the chair exercises are done with weights. I am losing inches.
Love this video. When I hit 60, I simplified my life by eating regular non-processed, non-diet food, added a little more protein and lots of vegetables at most meals. I found that I no longer craved my trigger foods because I would allow myself to have them occasionally, but in small portions. The pressure to diet was gone, and I lost 20 pounds in a year. Now I follow what my body craves, even if it’s a leafy veggie rich salad on a 0-degree day in January!
Your honesty and resolve is awesome
I like a small amount of large flake oatmeal on my yogurt
So much of this resonates with me! I’m 57 too and weight has been a lifelong fight. I’m 5’8 and have been able to stay in the 140’s all my adult life but only through diet and exercise. How many snide comments I endured when I worked in an office, you’re always on a diet! You never eat the birthday cake! Your lunch is always salad! The truth is I sometimes had to go hungry to maintain that weight. Even rude comments from doctors when I gained too much during my pregnancies. Then scolded for losing the weight too fast. It’s a little better now that I have more time to work out but it’s still a struggle and I have a muffin top despite strength training 4-5 days a week. My stomach never went flat after my deliveries. I could write a book. I am so happy that you found what works for you! Do not listen to your critics. Keep doing what works!
Talk to your vet about Buddy's behavior. Maybe gabapentin would help him sleep through the night. I love my cats, too. May you find peace.
Hi, the French chic lady recommended you. This video was so relevant to me. I am 74, lost 4 stone slowly over 4 years and now maintaining. I so agree, more protein and more water is working for me. And tracking my calories eaten. It was helpful to calculate my TDEE.
I’m looking forward to watching your videos.
You are such an inspiring lady Cathy to do what you do with so much going on in your life and for so many years. Weight loss is not an easy journey at any age especially over 50, and to lose weight with so much stress in your daily life is commendable. Thank you for your all your advice. All the best to you and stay strong.❤
Hey Cathy, just the fact that you're trying to release weight through all of the stress is a miracle. God bless you.
This video is so perfectly timed for my journey. I am the heaviest I have ever been, tired and recently retired. Starting one month ago, I changed my eating habits, began riding the stationary bicycle about 7 miles 3 -4 days a week. I have lost 4 lbs!!! WTH. I’ve decided to stop weighing myself for a while and just keep doing the bicycling and add some other form of exercise in addition. I feel proud after I’ve completed the ride. The doctor has taken me off blood pressure medication. Still having sleep issues. Also using melatonin with mixed results. So sorry for your migraine. I have a prescription medication for that as needed. Hoping u feel better soon. Thank you for your vulnerability. I appreciate you and u have given me the encouragement I needed to continue.
MY biggest mistake is binge eating after dinner when everyone else has gone to bed … "a little bit couldn't hurt …" Yeah it can.
💓 You look great!!! so inspiring…. I was thinking of a nap, but now I will go for a walk.
Thank you so much for sharing! I will look for the yogurt.
Bow, my cat, also likes to wake me between 345&5am. She’s ruthless. I love her so much tho.
Having a few items to eat on the ready. I have a few chicken breasts cooked, and a berry, yogurt, with some Alpen (not a full serving!) parfait made as well. Thank you again for reminding me of the protein powder. Hugs X
Edit…. I do meal prep in early morning. Maybe do the last step prior to dinner.
(I have registered for my fitness classes for the fall!!)
❤
You are doing so well considering the chronic stress you’ve been under for years. I so admire your fortitude. Like you I suffer from migraines. A neurologist told me to take 900 mg of asprin & 1 anti-nausea tab at the first sign of a migraine & if I do it early enough it certainly minimises the pain. I know some people have great success with Botox (such as Sheri from Graceful Beauty YT channel). I’m booked in for my 2nd bilateral pulsed rhizotomy into the occipital nerve & injections into the neck. My first one lasted me 6 months before the migraines slowly returned (but not as bad). Here in Australia it’s just day surgery (a couple of hours) & no recovery time. I’ve got my fingers crossed it works as well as the first one. As for stress, have you heard of tapping (like Emotional Freedom Technique)? It’s very easy & quick to do, can be used for so many different things including stress, weight loss, PTSD, anxiety etc. you can look it up & learn it off YT.
Great tips Cathy!
I’m 60 and having a knee replacement next week! I’ve always struggled with weight, not a huge amount but just enough to be annoying.
And yes trying to loose weight after 50, and now 60 is definitely a challenge! I follow the WW app and it helps. You are correct about protein too!!!!
I take magnesium and hour before bed and it really helps with sleeping 😴
Thank you so much for sharing this information! Like you, I have learned from making all of this mistakes in the past. The way you speak so honestly about all of this issues and how you put them all together somehow made me feel it is not so hard to keep trying. I trully appreciate all of your tips and suggestions! God bless you and your family!
Thank you Cathy, you’re very inspiring
Thank you for this important information. I feel so bad for you and you certainly have my empathy. I think your stress is a huge part of your problems with eating. I would get rid of the cat because you are putting your cat over your own needs. I would like to encourage you to get on a GLP one such as tripeptide. This has worked for me and my story is so similar to yours. My husband had MS. It’s not the same as cancer, but certainly was not a
walk in the park. My weight got up to 200 pounds and I’m only 4 foot 11 and 74 years old…I am now 108 pounds and I look and feel great. Of course my husband is not in my life any longer so my stress has certainly come down. Please take care of yourself Cathy. You deserve happiness and good health.
Thank you! I've listened to a number of videos, but your message is so practical and real. Especially what you said about stress. I live in Ukraine under constant stress lately and being 56, going thru peri and having my husband fighting near the frontline while I am here fighting with my own fears and body… it is exhausting! Thank you and be blessed!
Cathy, I randomly found your video and I loved it! I subscribed right away. I wrote down the 10 steps and plan to incorporate some of them in my own weight loss journey. I love your common sense ideas because they work,.
Thank you Cathy for sharing your experience and difficulties in life. I found it very calming and supportive at the same time.
Thank you Cathy! For taking the time to make these videos. This one is specially inspiring to me, since I'm gaining more and more weight these last 6 months and I feel like I'm never going to be the same again…but after seeing this video I feel a little more hopeful…I thing I would try to do a few changes at a time as you suggested…I will start including some protein at breakfast and in general. Thanks again!! My best to you and your family.
❤❤❤
Best video I’ve seen in a long time. I know what you are going through with you husband. I’ve been the care taker for two husbands with cancer and they both have passed. My second husband passed September last year, almost a year now. So now I’m taking care of me. I believe in prayer so I’ll be praying for you. 💜🙏🏻
Thank you for sharing this. I’m 75 and just found out about strength and muscles and what they do for your body. So I’m starting to lift weights. I guess it’s never too late to get healthier. Let’s be there for each other. Let’s be cheerleaders! We gotta keep going. Yay us!😊
I hope you feel better today and that Buddy let you sleep. Tucker tends to sleep through the night but gets me up by 530 even on weekends. I've found not snacking helps, and go lower carb with dinner. I also saw an infographic that showed that your body will release fat in cells but replace it with water because it's waiting to see if it needs to park that fat car back in the cell. So once it's convinced, it releases the water & that's why you'll suddenly drop weight and inches. And congrats on smaller pants sizes. That's definitely a victory. I've also found that cardio may be good for my heart but not my waist. So I just try to walk and get over 6k steps a day. It's not always easy on heavy meeting days but I have a 50 step circuit, and 80 step circuit and a 100 step circuit in my home and try to get in a few between meetings. It adds up. And weights really do help. I think I staved off my belly for a lot of years because I was doing weights at the gym & when I stopped, boom. Take care and yes, put your mask on first.
Cutting sugar and carbs makes all of the difficulties go away.
Gratitude ❤😊
Thank you Cathy! ❤
I worked with an interior designer for some time in my career at a major hospital in our area. Learned from her that being in nature for everyone is very good for your mind. By walking, sitting, enjoying the sun, etc. Enjoy outdoors in any manner!
Congratulations on your weight loss & clothes down size! I find the same thing for me that body shifts but not noticing any difference in scale. Frustrating because when going to the Dr's office most times that is the focus-not how do you feel? I give you so much credit in all you do, being a caregiver and making interesting/fun videos every week, etc. You have so many followers that enjoy you & your honesty about yourself and wanting to help others!
Good for you for wanting to take care of you so that you are healthy in later years.
I'm much older than you & have really focused on my health and taking care of myself.
You are amazing!
High protein yogurt with ground flax for my breakfast, sometimes cottage cheese with berries.. great start to the day 😊
This has been my favorite video of yours. I saved it to enjoy again. I’m 55 and really appreciate your tips. 😊❤️
Hi Cathy, my weight didn't go down either but my clothes fit better and I think it's because I started lifting weights and the muscle weighs more. Love your blouse, such a nice color on you.
I’m the same way about doing some things by myself. Sometimes I don’t want to talk to another person except my mother. Some people including my family seem to enjoy terrorizing me….especially about my hair. I’m a cancer survivor and I know my hair looks like crap. 😢
Cathy, you’re a sweetheart. I’ve been watching your channel since the beginning. You’re fabulous and thanks for sharing personal struggles. Love you, Debra 💖🌟💫
Belly fat is also genetic, along with other body type characteristics.
Thank you Cathy for your wise words and support, I hope you can keep up with it for now I have Breast Cancer and gpong through Chemo and the Dr. doesn't want me to worry about gaining or losing weight but you gave me wise words for next year Thank You and good luck with your Journey!
I have tried every diet out there, WW ( was lifetime), Omnitrition, Conway, Tops
Those nasty bars I forgot what that is…I walk 2-3 miles 5x week.
I went to an endocrinologist that told me having a high bmi and extra weight around the middle put me at risk for diabetes. We talked Zepbound and I’ve lost 23 pounds in 20 weeks and couldn’t be happier. I’m 10 pounds from my goal and the benefits for help preventing dementia is an added plus. My point is do what works for you 🙂
Keep it up 😀
Focus on the reason you are doing this your WHY… Willpower comes and goes but if you focus on being consistent no matter what even on the days you don't want to work out then you will lose weight and results will give you motivation and motivation will give you success. Don't quit and I guarantee you you will get to your goal eventually.
