  1. Yes but if the body is used to burning less calories eating more will just increase body weight surely?. I thought there would be some type of gradual increase of calories

  2. Can you help me? I’ve been keto for over a year. Now I eat maybe 500 calories a day. Some days more. I am happy at the weight I am at. I don’t want to balloon up

  3. so… eat more, exercise less? yo yo dieting may kill me, but I'm not keeping this fucking weight. video not helpful. naturally i assumed this video was about healing your metabolism AFTER taking all the weight off.

  4. I hit a weight loss plateau where I cant get under 69 Kgs. I eat about 1700 Calories a day. But I still dont lose any weight anymore. Doesnt matter how many steps, Workouts a day I do. I just stay at the 69 to 71 Kg range

  5. I was highly restrictive in my diet, even doing a doctor controlled protein sparing diet and also fasting frequently. I did that for 15 years; the thing is it is very hard to do and hard on the body, so about every 6 or 7 days, I would binge. I also over exercised. I was trying to lose 10 to 15 pounds. This was also horrible for my body, which became very efficient. I almost ruined my health; I even went through early menopause at 34 because of it. I lost so much muscle that I started to spasm in my shoulder and back muscles. I had my metabolism checked twice at Mayo. It was so low that Mayo wanted me to join a study program. But, no one asked me about my diet and what I was eating. Finally naturopathic medical doctor assessed all of my complaints and it was he who figured out what I was doing to myself. I am no longer at war with my food. I pretty much eat Mediterranean now. Now that I eat enough, I don’t have cravings. I don’t eat between meals unless it is for something special – I leave 4- 5 hours between meals. I exercise a lot as part of my horse farming lifestyle, but I also run and sprint for 30 minutes 5 days a week. I try to keep my stress down and get enough sleep. Fortunately, I repaired my body in time to avoid bone density issues. I am 75 now, and just had my second bone density test – all normal. I walk about 12,000 steps a day. Americans really need to develop a better, happier relationship with food and eat in moderation – anything they want – just not all on the same day.

  6. What if u don’t diet much but I still have 1100 of a metabolism rate from young I have only been under 50 kg for my entire life. I am vegetarian. My parents also have that less of a metabolism and are fine and I lose at least 400 calories in walking and do a little of weight lifting. will it increase my metabolism? I also am a person who doesn’t like donuts and don’t eat pasta that often.

  7. So if I eat more food over time dose that mean I can go back to eating more calories and still losing weight? Bc I’ve made my body kinda just think I’m starving and it’s trying to cling onto my body fat so

  8. I’ve had anorexia for 2 years, lost 20kg and have been eating less than 500 cals a day for months, any tips to fix metabolism is so appreciated. Should I start lifting weights?

  9. I haven’t lost my period but I’ve been hitting a plateau for about one month. I lost about 18 lbs or so and can’t seem to lose less no matter how intense the workout or the diet. I started eating more protein per the advice of persons of TikTok .
I lost a few more pounds but then I plateaued again. Is this still a sign of metabolic adaptation even though I did not lose my period ?

  10. It’s crazy, I have struggled with anorexia and bulemia on and off for over 25 years taken diet pills and lost weight on adderal in college, and now, I am just so used to never eating that I do not get hungry but when I do eat, even if it’s something very little, I gain weight, it’s like I gain weight just thinking about food. It’s so crazy. I just don’t understand when I stop eating, I’ve seen the scale even go up. I just don’t even know what to do anymore. I have tried herbal supplements to help balance, my hormones and rev-up my metabolism.

I just don’t know what to think or do anymore

  11. I have seen a "diet" where you eat less for like 2-3 weeks and than eat normally for a week, that your metabolism stays fast/slows only a tiny bit and you also loose weight on the weeks you eat less. Is it ok if I already have a slow metabolism?

  12. Great video, one I wished I found much earlier. I would highly recommend anyone starting a weight loss journey know this before they begin as it helps great deal!

My own experience in metabolic adaptation is as you suggested. In order to get it back to steady I had to clean up my diet by removing everything that my body had a hard time processing. Drink the correct amount of water, eat at the same times, correct my sleep routine, go from sedentary to walking 30 minutes a day. I stuck to that for one year and was greeted by wonderful hunger pains for the first time since I was a teen!

  13. I've had an ed (b/p) for 5 years+ idk if my metabolism is damaged or not but im too scared to eat and risk gaining weight. Im not underweight im maintaining even though im eating very small amounts aside from my binges that i dont keep down.

  14. Hi Colleen, i have a question. So im a 13yo struggling with anorexia, and trying to recover! The thing is, ive been eating under 700 calories (mostly 400, 500 or 600 a day) for weeks now, and im not sure how many i personally need. i know this isnt enough, but i seriously dont know how much cals i need in a day. Im getting professional help from a dietian soon, but the waiting list is reaaaaallly long and i dont know how much i should eat till then. ive tried doing tests and google how much i need for my age (13 yo, 163 cm and around 51 kgs) but EVERY single site says something difference. what would you reccomend?

  15. My body has no problem stabilizing my weight and maintaining it when I’m extremely overweight but when I lose weight it won’t stabilize. I’m either gaining or in a calorie deficit and losing weight.
