I really loved this video…I lost 17 pounds and need to lose just 10 more pounds, but I got stuck and stayed the same weight for a few months, then started to break my rules and became really mentally hungry, never physically…I even put a sock in my mouth to stop thinking about food…food has always run my life and my thoughts…I don't think I ever stop thinking about eating…I will never take those weight loss medications…but it's always been very clear that mental desire to eat is what keeps me fat.
How does this relate to the ‘all in’ method used by people like Stephanie Buttermore? It goes against this logic in the sense that she experienced metabolism repair, normalisation of hunger and effectively ‘effortless’ weight maintenance?
I was 320 pounds then I lost weight within one year and was 230 pounds I gained it all back quickly within two years I am now currently 330 trying to lose weight again
Down from 285 lbs to 230, in a year by intermittent fasting weight lifting and calorie counting. Then gained back and became 293 lbs just in 6 months… At least i know what healthy people live like and the purpose to weight loss is not only body image and attractiveness now. 😀
People have to switch their brain from "I'll allow myself to gain and then get back in shape" to "I'll allow myself to lose and then put weight back on"
I'm just gonna be honest. The thought of having to eat less food permanently because of having gained weight and then having come back down to your original weight it is super depressing. Like a punishment of less pleasure for forever for having been too gluttonous.
I've lost the same 10lbs like 20 times and I'm going lose my absolute shit about it.
I had lost track of this channel for some time . I’m not sure if it was the content or just me not being in the right place to understand the content. I’ve rediscovered Abbey and I am loving the channel again! 🥰
I lost 120 and stayed thin for ten years. But now I’m fatter than ever.
Losing weight sucks. Gaining weight is fun. Therefore people are getting bigger.
Keeping in shape is an every day battle, and I don’t believe those who say otherwise.
I feel everyone's journey will be different & I believe in having a small daily deficit for weight loss. I've dropped 50 lbs in past three yrs from weight gain from being locked in during CV with an average (200) cal deficit while my goal is (250) What each person needs to find is their best daily activity to do in steps or miles vs their food intake. I walk 4 miles, ride a bike 10 miles or mow my lawn 6 days a week. I'm in the same cal burn area. I give myself 80/20 missing my goal 20% each month with my misses usually coming from a low activity day as food consumption stays at the same level. This might be for that ice cream birthday cake at a party, happy hour, a special dinner or just becouse I'm hungry that could last for a few days. I just go with the flow.
Lift weights people!!!!
Fat people are fat because there's nothing they can do about it. They cannot stop the weight from coming on, and they have no way to take it off. Diets and exercise, to any major degree, do not work. If they DID work, there wouldn't be, any fat people. This should be obvious to you. If there was no way to trim fingernails, then people would have fingernails 2 feet long, because there was nothing they could do about it. People don't have fingernails 2 feet long, because there's a way to cut them off. If fat people had a way to lose their weight, then they'd be doing it, right now. But they have no way
Gravitostat theory has been useful to me. I find once I get my BMI down to 25 or so, intense hunger made it hard to go any lower. What’s helped is wearing a weighted vest for much of the day. Now my BMI is under 24.5, and I will add more weight to the weighted vest as I lose weight. It’s really made it much easier to control my hunger.
Another thing that helps is having high volume low calorie foods for snacks and side dishes. A big thing is increasing my protein intake combined with cardio and resistance training.
This was very interesting, am was amazed that the diet study they all quote is so old and poorly carried out 😮
I was a stable weight all my adult life until I gained 15% of my bodyweight very quickly after weaning my third son and it stayed for 5 years until I realized I needed to be proactive to lose it. I lost it and have kept it off now for 12 years.
Two things are crucial for that maintenance:
1) most important is exercise (my appetite stays fairly constant whether or not I exercise, so I put on weight if I am inactive).
2) I weigh myself first thing in the morning and then I can nip in the bud any gains that are not just normal fluctuations by cutting back a bit on the chocolate and cake. It's much easier to stay stable.
Ok so I dieted a lot….i limited my intake to 500 calories …..now I am suffering from anaemia (my Hb is 8.4)and many problems….eating normally would make me gain weight and without eating I go around fainting everywhere…..
I am so stressed right now
I don’t wanna gain weight and face all those bullying stuff again…
But I think I am dying … My family is so scared of my fainting problem….but I can’t explain this to them….eating medicines alone won’t suffice…….
Pls help me on this…..
And the biggest struggle is also my studies …I can’t take out extra time from my study hours for gym …..
Pls help me ….
Uhhhhh I just lost 35lbs over the past year and the past 2 months I've noticed my appetite increase a lot. It's so hard because I do struggle with emotional eating. I'm now on a journey to study myself and what my body is telling me, and prioritizing having healthy options available for me rather than junk food. Here's to breaking negative eating habits long-term!
You swear too much. It’s unnecessary and doesn’t help your point. I have small kids and don’t like hearing it myself. too bad some of your information was pretty good.
Well, I think I'm both in the 95% of people who fail to maintain weight loss, but am also a success story. Most of my family is morbidly obese. My sibling gains about 10 pounds a year and there's no end in sight. I also gain 10 pounds every year or two, but then I diet for a few months and get back to my starting weight. Basically every time my pants get tight I just stop snacking and drinking. The result is that my sibling has just crossed the threshold into morbid obesity, while my bmi is low normal. Isn't this a health success? I don't think the goal should be zero fluctuation for the rest of our lives, like we need to feel like giant failures every time we bloat on our periods and the scale goes up two pounds.
I'm a binge eater who's been fighting 25 pounds since the pandemic. Zepbound finally helped me to take it off and I'm quitting the drug in three weeks. I fear weight gain but also know that I'm feeling much better about food since the end of the pandemic. I hope I can keep the weight off with proper food choices.
That 1959 study isn't even statistically significant…. 6 people, ultimately?? I've heard that statistic over and over myself. I'm really thinking that there needs to be some updating for the studies. Especially since it was that long ago – the food industry and how we relate to it have changed so significantly that it seems like that old study is just that: old and outdated.
The fact is, once I got down to 70kg from 120kg, if I didn’t keep a consistent log of what I was eating, I would gain it all back overtime. It’s a lifestyle change for life if you wanna stay healthy.
Loved this video as i yo-yo back up and could not figure out what i did wrong. It makes sense
🙌🏾
Can you consider a comparison between Grand Floridian, Polynesian and AKL? If I had just one night to splurge on one of these resorts how you you go about choosing?
I love your videos Abbey. Thank you.
Because you haven’t burn the sag that holds the fat? Or I don’t know. People make up things about diet just to make money.
Plz help me, I loose about 40 kg in 3 years and maintained it for about 1 year bt due to some personal matter i Couldn't diet and exercise properly and regain 20 kg. And now i started again diet and exercise, its been 1 month bt i Didn't loose even 1 kg 😭 its so frustrating plz help me what should i do??
Purely rubbish and talking too much irrelevant stuffs, putting away the real point .
This people are after money making on YouTube.
I guess I belong in the 5%. Lost 45 pounds 3 years ago and kept it off thanks to Intermittent Fasting.
I was 210 when I graduated high-school. After a few years of sports I hit 155 and felt I was to small. I also moved back to the city and on my journey to gain weight I hit 220. Now I'm doing keto and my goal is 170 them add muscle. Doesn't make sense to me I have done so much extra to remain a healthy weight but I'll manage it.
I burned 50 pounds in 1 year and gained back 40 withing 4 month f*** . It feels like the weight that i loosed was just a dream😢.
At the end of the day, the reason people gain weight back is cuz they go back to the way they eat before they lost weight. I know cuz I’ve done yo-yo diets, and it is a reality many face
The reality is, all diets work, people just don’t stick to them. Even if you eat 100 calories over your maintenance, you gain back 10kg back within a year, that’s all, that’s roughly a quarter of a donut, or a burger the size of your palm of your hand. It’s f**king hard this s**t, who’s always going for the bigger piece, me 😂
People just give up, accepting your body the way it is will get you nowhere. At some point you gotta wake up, or your going to kill yourself faster then someone who is lighter. You wanna be healthy, not obese, not skinny, health in the middle
If you take a pill cuz you don’t have the willpower, eventually that pill comes to an end, then what, do you keep paying a tone of money every year for weight loss pills, or do you clean out the fridge get willpower and get over it?
The choice is yours, your life is yours, not society’s, yours. People shouldn’t have to cater and tip toe around people trying not to hurt their feelings, and the feelings hurt of course they do, but you know what won’t help, ending up in the ground at 35-40 years old
I wanna help people here. I was 120kg or 265lb in primary school, I’m passionate about this cuz I know how it feels. My blood pressure was sky high my doctor told me at 12 that my chances of type 1 diabetes by the time i was 20 was 85%, and I had other pains like joint pain, chest pain, and worst of all, lumps of skin that stink in the class
It was this that changed my view on food, and time to research the problems that I was gonna get by the time I hit my 20s. I’m 18 now, and I feel better after losing 40kg- 88lb, and it’s like I can breath again
You just gotta work at it, not give up like the movements that you see online about fat acceptance. They make money off weak people, I hope that’s not you, wake up, be honest, your not beautiful, I’m not beautiful, no one is, that’s what’s important here
I’m not having a go at anyone, i genuinely want to talk to people and help them understand they have autonomy over themselves, not what’s being shown as a healthy way of living, health at every size is a joke, and as a former fatty, I feel ashamed that people take the easy way out
At the end of the day, eating food that’s unhealthy is a choice wether we want it to be or not. Even if your family eats bad food, even if your hungry all the time, even if you grew up eating bad food, it’s a choice. Your not a 5 year old that doesn’t get a choice in the matter, hell even in high school to a degree, it’s your parents fault, so if you have a fat kid, it’s on you as a guardian to help your kids overcome diet
When it comes to genes, that’s true, some people burn more and can eat more, but it doesn’t mean they are invincible. Everyone can gain and lose weight, so just cuz someone has it easy, doesn’t mean we give up, life’s not fair sometimes, get over it
We need to make decisions that are appropriate to us. If you can only have 2,000 calories a day, then control yourself to not reach that limit. Just cuz your friends eat 3,000+ calories a day, doesn’t mean you can too, it’s bloody hard
But all your gonna get from me as a former fatty is the truth, it’s not inspirational it’s not awesome, it’s painful and dangerous
Yes, that is correct. My body was meant to be morbidly obese and not have anyone that I like, like me back. This is what fate is. Thank you for the video
Thank you so much Abbey! I just came across your channel this morning and am so pleased with your content. I have been on this weight roller coaster since I was a teenager. 50,60,80-100 pound losses and regains several times through fad diets and restriction 🙁 Now I am at my heaviest weight but would like to become pregnant. I am worried about a healthy pregnancy being at this high weight but do not want to go down the nightmare path of dieting again.
