Let’s talk about why it’s so difficult for women to lose belly fat after menopause—and what to do about this issue.
When a woman goes through menopause, their ovaries no longer produce or release eggs. This big change leads to a cascade of other changes. The ovaries also make hormones, which means a woman in menopause will have lower hormone levels.
However, when this happens, the adrenal glands are supposed to act as the backup system for the ovaries. The adrenal glands make all of the hormones that the ovaries make.
If the adrenal glands are strong and stable when a woman is going into menopause, they may experience fewer symptoms. It’s not normal to experience symptoms of menopause unless there’s a problem with the adrenal glands.
Another part of the body we need to focus on is the parasympathetic nervous system. The parasympathetic nervous system is the recovery system of the body. It influences your sleep and ability to recover. Fat burning occurs in the recovery phase.
Exercising your parasympathetic nervous system will help reduce cortisol, support sleep, and get rid of belly fat.
In order to strengthen your parasympathetic nervous system, it’s crucial to increase the time you rest in between your reps and sets of exercise, as well as the days of exercise. You have to make sure you don’t overtrain and give your body a chance to completely recover and reset.
How to lose belly fat after menopause:
1. Do high-intensity exercises with longer rest periods
2. Don’t overtrain
3. Don’t train over soreness
4. Focus on getting more sleep
5. Take advantage of chiropractic care, massage therapy, or physical therapy
6. Consume omega-3 fatty acids
7. Take DHEA
8. Go on a low-carb diet with intermittent fasting
9. Get plenty of magnesium, choline, vitamin B1, and vitamin D
10. Try lemon balm, passionflower, or ashwagandha

Those of you saying you don’t eat carbs- does that mean you don’t eat vegs and fruit or you don’t eat breads and sweets, or what exactly?
I think you may not realize that was completely unclear so what I got from that is exercise once a week and don't do sustained cardio?
I had 10 year old twins and a 12 year old when I entered menopause. As they entered their teens it became a very trying time. I was comfort eating. Now 20 years later I weigh less and am much healthier and toned than I was then. I think stress is the biggest factor to overcome during that time, no matter what is causing it. ❤
I knew menopause was a kash cow & joggging, destroying joints, another kash cow
Stop it with the "can't." We CAN – if we take the right steps.
Gotta love it when a man tells a woman how to lose weight ….. not! You can study study but unless you live it???
I get 6 hours maximum sleep. I eat clean and am good weight. Im 47.
I actually lost a lot of it after I quit eating sugar and carbs. I also only eat for six hours a day most days.
The only thing that helped me lose 50lbs was staying under 2000 calories, IF, long fasting and low carb low sugar. Along with 15 min walking videos like 5 times a week.
❤
I'm still eagerly waiting for my middle life spread!!xxxxzz😂😂😂😂😂
I lost 48 lbs by intermittent fasting. I've kept it off almost 4 yrs now. It completely reset my metabolism.
Sit like a turtle, walk like a pigeon, sleep like a dog
You insist in the side effects of hormonal replacement but you never talk about the bioidentical hormones wich are absolutely great, safe and necessary, you are not a women, you need to learn from the right expert's women that are helping millions women to understand that we have receptors and need to supplement with estradiol and testosterone if we are in menopause.
Do all the rest but bioidentical hormones are absolutely necessary.
I thought woman were born with all the eggs so I don't think we make more
Never had hot flashes or kood swings 🤔
Sorry, I don’t agree with you. HRT is life-changing, and I’ve had no side effects for seven years. I can’t imagine my life without it!
My feet and legs are bad so a lot of exercising I cannot do to get rid of my belly fat. What can I do to get rid of belly fat?
When is the best time to take DHEA?

My hubby gave up bread and soda for 2 wks and lost 20 lbs. Hate him. I would hv to starve for 2 mnts
This makes so much sense
Seems like he has it all figured out. Until he walks in a woman’s shoes and experience menopause, He has nooooooo clue. Diet, exercise did Not help me much. Wish we can keep our hormones!
Thank you! Your videos and reach are so very helpful!
Rebounding on the trampoline short intervals
The ONLY reason women can't lose weight after M is because they eat ice cream, cookies, crackers and processed foods, serve themselves too much at dinner. Oh ! And they don't exercise. I promise.
2 meals/ day was key for me! I think insulin resistance is the culprit. I only eat veggies, some fruit and a little chicken or beef at brunch and dinner. I take great supplements and walk a good 2 miles a few times/ week.
Great info. Thank you. ❤❤
Instinctive training for your own body is effective for athletes who know their own body.
Thanks Doctor.
Intermittent fasting fixed everything for me. I sleep like a baby now.
Dr. Berg, I have not listened to this video yet, (nor read any other comments). I have to say honestly, that I don't know what you're going to say. So far, I have liked your channel, learned a lot from you, & also agreed with what you've said. I just have to say, it seems a little odd that you as a man talk about women's issues, even though I am quite sure I will learn from you. Just a thought, what do you think about getting a female Dr. you respect "guest star" for these specific topics? Thank you for all you do to make your videos informative as well as teaching about natural healing. ❤
Thank you
I am 70, I never had any symptoms of menopause except gaining weight in my mid section.
