Are you worried that you will stop smoking and gain weight? Learn why quitting smoking causes weight gain and how to avoid it.
The fear of putting on weight may be preventing you from making a serious, full-on, I’ll-try-no-matter-what quit attempt.
But not every smoker who quits, gains weight.
In this video, we’ll talk about the facts and solutions of weight gain after quitting smoking.
First, I explain the 3 main reasons why some smokers gain weight. You will learn why quitting smoking makes you feel hungrier and crave sugar and junk food, and what to do about it.
Next, you will learn 3 tested strategies you can use to maintain or even lose weight next time you stop smoking.
These tips will help you remain healthy without dieting and without substituting cigarettes with food. (No, not all of them are exercise.)
Enjoy!

I’m around 18 months with no smoking, and I’ve gained 26lbs (180 to 206lbs)
Now my doctor wants me to go on a glp-1, but I’m trying to take less rx’s not more.
I stopped smoking a month ago but still i am under weight
I quit almost 6 months ago. I eat like a bird ( and mostly fruits and veggies) maybe 1700 calories a day and walk 2 miles a day, but still gaining weight. Just keeps piling on. Its a mystery. Wtf.
The first 3 years I was eating non stop 😂😂😂😂😂
Well that just made me want to keep smoking. I cant afford to put weight on as i can not afford to buy a whole new wardrobe.
really helpfull!thank you!
Hot tea and walking have been my replacement as a treat and way to lose weight as I begin my exercise routine.
Madam I uesed tobacco with battle leaf I quit tobacco but still using battle leat with battle nut should I stop ?the best thing is I quit Tobacco 😊this is my new success iny life.
I quit 3 weeks ago and already put on 12 pounds. Trying to wait until around 4 pm to eat for the next week or so to try and curb cravings.
day 7 of quitting nic cold turkey and i've gained about 10 lbs 🙁 . I thought my appetite and metabolism had naturally increased, but turns out it was the nicotine all along. Trying to get back into a mental state of eating healthy since I've had that mindset since the beginning of the year. wish me luck because my increased appetite has been brutal
After 36 years of being a slim and trim 135 pounds, I quit smoking and I ballooned out to 275. That's right, I doubled my body weight. I got kicked out of the navy for being obese. I developed sleep apnea. I had to give up running, riding my bike, water skiing, scuba diving and riding roller coasters because I was too fat. I had to give all my favorite clothes to charity. I wish I would have taken my chances on cancer and kept right on smoking
I wish i never quit or i had this video 10 years ago, I gained so much weight especially in my belly I look pregnant and Im a male for goodness sake and I tried exercise and all the diets
So why not munch on veggies, fruit, healthy foods… makes sense to me.
Chances are you are overweight when you decide to quit smoking most of America is. Why not quit and let diet and exercise come into play that'll take your mind off cigarettes.
❤ thank U
Thank You so much for all of your videos. I wish I had watched this one early on. I am in month 11 of quitting smoking and alcohol. I do feel better and it is getting easier, even in social outings. However, the bad news is, I have put on weight, which is what I did not want to do. This video has certainly given me ideas on what to try and do next so I can start losing weight. Everything you said about quitting and cravings was eye opening. But now I need to plan on how to tackle my weight problem. I wish you did a CBQ method to lose weight!
Thank you Nasia for all great things you taught to us 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😁..
My after meal behavior is sitting upright for 30 minutes.
Bruh I gained 30 pounds after quoting
Sometimes I have to save the videos and review them later. So much of smoking is just done without thinking. This information is so life changing. Thanks for helping me to be a happy non smoker.
I never knew about blood sugar linked to smoking thing
Fruit juice definitely not it’s full of sugar
i fear of gaining weight a lot thats why i cannot quit it
Thanks for your help
I do recommend eating like a pig the first week of quitting
Not my problem .
This video made me think about my diabetes. Could this be why my glucose levels run high, I smoke a pack a day. Would quitting smoking lower my sugar levels. I am also a diet Pepsi drinker and coffee with Splenda sweetener and lots of coffee mate cream. I am thinking that my diabetes could get better. Am I right?
The secret is be active. I walk 5km everyday and also walk to most places i have to get to. Getting some weights and working out 6 times a week helps too. Haven't put on weight yet, but i can breathe better.
I love your video! I hate these idiots that say you “gain weight” from quitting smoking, you gain weight because you eat MORE!!!!!!!!!!!’
I’ve been nicotine free for about a month now. I gained 15 lbs since then. My problem is not the slowed metabolism but rather constantly feeling hungry and wanting to eat like a dog. I’ve been addicted for 3 years, I’m not going back. I still don’t have the best energy levels, and I’ve been sleeping so much more and feeling far more tired every damn morning I wake up. I have a serious craving for sugary foods now. Apple cider vinegar cures the sweet tooth, and I’m planning on slowly cutting back the amount of food I have been eating. It’s definitely hard, but I’m hoping my hunger levels will return to normal soon. I don’t want to feel like this for the rest of my life. I remember before I started how it wasn’t like this, so I can only hope…
The unknown inside me! Man!
This is what I am scared bout
Yes!
Very informative channel…Just love the content you make ❤

How long does the depression AFTER qutting smokking will last
I gained 15 points in 30 days and went from a size 10 to 16. I feel like I am 7 months pregnant and oh yeah…I eat 1450 calories daily and work out 3x week. Tell me how is that possible and yes I am drinking so much water I am urinating every 15-30minutes
Mam it's been 70 days smoke free I am
But till now I'm feeling dizziness and anxious
I quit eating by telling myself now i never need to waste money on food again. I am finally free from survival needs! Then i saw all the free food of pigeons walking around parading their meat as free food.
Now i only eat one meal a day after work. Not for survival needs but for pleasure. No it is not pigeons.
Wish I saw this before I quit, I already gained 5 kilos! I am going to brush my teeth directly after I eat! And start planning meals.
Very helpful video, thank you!
I quit smoking and started ketodiet the same day… I'm about a week in, and I've lost 10lbs so far.. hopefully I dont gain any back!
The blood sugar info was something I was looking to as an answer. I quit 2 .oaths ago but I'm more tired and less active at the gym.
