4:55 Negative effects of Ozempic
5:30 How to maintain weight after Ozempic

Understanding the benefits and drawbacks of Ozempic is crucial when considering how to manage your weight after stopping this medication.

As a GLP-1 Agonist, Ozempic mimics a hormone in your small intestine that helps regulate insulin levels, control appetite, and slow down gastric emptying. While this can aid in weight loss, it can also lead to adverse side effects.
These side effects may include:
• Nutrient deficiency
• Gastroparesis
• Constipation
• Gallbladder problems
• Thyroid tumors and cancer

To help maintain your weight after Ozempic, it’s crucial to make certain lifestyle changes, such as:
1. Follow a ketogenic diet to keep insulin levels low and promote fat-burning.
2. Do intermittent fasting to control appetite and improve hormone balance.
3. Incorporate weight training to build and preserve muscle mass.

Additionally, ensuring adequate protein intake is crucial for maintaining muscle mass, especially for those who have already lost a significant amount of muscle while on Ozempic. This can be achieved through consuming bioavailable proteins such as red meat, eggs, and fish.

Monitoring your hormone levels and ensuring proper cholesterol intake is also important, as cholesterol is a building block for many hormones, including testosterone and estrogen.

  1. I’ve been using it in small dosages. 8 units (1.6 mg) every week, has worked wonders for me, I go to the gym, eat healthier and I also have a physical job, it helped me go past the plateau I hit for years that I couldn’t drop weight no matter what I did besides the diet and exercising. I feel a lot better. I incorporate a lot of protein, less carbs, and a lot of hydration and also just watching my calories. It’s been a slow process but I rather lose weight gradually than too much at once and shock my body.

  2. I have been on Ozempic for 2 years.
    Lost 110lbs, walked 1800 miles.
Dosage went as high as 1.5mg per week.
I am now tapering off of it slowly.
I had no major side effects beyond very very slight nausea from time to time.
I feel at least 10 years younger!
    No constipation.
    No spasms.
I did increase my dosage very slowly and never went all the way to 2mg per week.
I will say this. If I hadn't been completely miserable, I never would've risked it.
People using these drugs to lose 10 or 20 lbs are reckless in my opinion.
If you are morbidly obese, and hopeless, it might be worth the risk.
I was to the point where I would get out of breath walking upstairs, and would break out into a sweat when drying off after a shower. My quality of life was non-existent.
My experience has been positive so far.
I do realize this could still change for the worse.
I also have relatives who have been on it even longer than me without negative results… yet. 🤷🏻‍♂️

  3. Dr. Berg, is it okay to take ozempic when I have PCOS and gallstones? Thank youuu so much and I'm always buying DR.BERG'S food supplements here in the Philippines♥️ I always trust your advices 😊

  4. I am on Mounjaro (5 weeks in) and I’ve lost 20lbs. I titrated to 5mg and don’t feel hungry at all, even a baked potato is too much now! It’s hard to make yourself eat when you feel like you already ate! I force myself to eat though.

  5. I'm on Wegovy one month. Lost 20 lbs and feeling fantastic! Lot's of energy and mental clarity. I've been taking thousands of dollars worth of all the recommended vitamin supplements until now. None of the supplements ever helped. The constipation is real tho.

  6. I am on
    ozempic 1mg
    Jardiance 25mg
    Metformin 1g twice a day
    Gliclazide 120mg morning 80mg night
    Actos 15mg

    A1C reading 7%

I want to go on low carb as I'm switching from trulicity to ozempic cause my doctor after seeing my A1C at 7% he added actos and switch me to ozempic. I wish to ask about what drugs need to be adjusted from my list above. I learnt jardiance can trigger DKA. plz advice ❤

  7. My a1c is 7, I only take pill jardiance. 25 mil. I am 30 pounds overweight, I have a month supply of zepbound in my fridge but can't start it, I'm afraid of ruining my health

  10. Hi dr.. I was also using ozempic.for last 10 months . I lose 23kg…now my dr advice me to stop ozempic because my blood sugar is reversed… I donot want to gain my weught again… I want to maintain my weight.. Kindly advice me what i do now

  11. I have T2 and was put on Ozempic for two reasons by my Endocrinologist. Lose weight also control glucose. Yes, lost weight due I was not able to eat, and did help my glucose was able to stop taking insulin shots. But the side effects was brutal with me. Hair loss, sick all the time, muscle loss, couldn't exercise. After 2 years on it my doctor finally took it off. I am happier with taking insulin shots again but now with appetite back I am gaining weight back and fast. So now it is training myself again to exercise which I'm doing and food choices which I have started. I hope to stop the weight gain soon. 😔

  12. Ive been on ozempic for couple of months and have had the worst diarrhea. Going to the toilet 15 times in a day. I take ozempic once every 2 weeks. But now im planning on slowly moving away from it. But scared ill gain all the weight back which has happened before. I have hypo thyroid and high blood pressure so also stressed about how to manage this. Would love some tips or help on this.

  13. Anything about Mounjaro doc? I'm on Mounjaro as well as low carb and exercising regularly. Side effects are: no appetite. But that's it! From what I've read, Mounjaro seems to have less adverse side effects compared to Ozempic.

  14. Thank you. Everyone glossed over the studies that talked about how muscle mass went way down on these drugs. People were not eating as much, so they were getting less protein. If you do start taking these drugs, make sure you maintain an adequate protein level. The best sources of course are animal products. Fish, beef, chicken, pork, turkey, shellfish, organ meats, etc.

  15. I just bought your blood sugar support to help control my insulin resistance, pcos , and have an ovarian tumor. About to have surgery to remove the tumor. I already eat correctly and exercise. Going into menopause. Can’t take BHRT yet until the tumor is gone . Love you Dr Berg ! I will never take ozemic or any of those toxic pharmaceutical substances.

  16. Mr. Berg If you are a professional or an amature athlete and regularly hit the gym would you not need more consume a higher amount of carbs then what the ketogenic diet requires to maintain a certain level of energy during your training?

  17. Do you have a video or can you comment on estrogen and cholesterol? I had a gastric sleeve while I was going through menopause and lost 70lbs. My cholesterol shot up despite the weight loss and I read somewhere it was because of menopause and estrogen loss. Is this correct?
