How to Make Weight Loss Easier After Menopause/Perimenopause

There is no doubt that menopause changes things. And, while it doesn’t prevent fat loss, it does require a unique strategy. In this video, I discuss how fat storage changes as we move into menopause and how to work around those changes to make weight loss easier without resorting to hormone therapy.

In the video, you’ll learn…

*How low estrogen makes belly fat more likely
*The role insulin plays in post-menopausal weight gain
*The three eating strategies that allow you to lose weight after menopause.

  1. I'm 10 years into menopause. I did not take the hormone therapy so I've only been able to lose 25 pounds of the 50 pounds I've put on, but I'm still working out every day and I do take apple cider, vinegar capsules 3 times daily and interment fast. I still have 25 pounds to go. 🎉

  2. Not eating late does not work for me. I need to eat well about 1h before going to bed, otherwise I get hungry in the middle of the night (woken by a need to pee, by mosquitoes or by my baby boy) and then can’t go back to sleep until I eat something at 3AM. Not eating before bed works for people who are sure that nothing would wake them up. But often there is something – snoring partner, motorcycle driving past your window at 1AM etc and then you’re hungry and impossible to sleep.

  3. This is such a helpful video — I wish more women knew how layered this really is. I lost 20 lbs during perimenopause and have kept it off for over 15 years, but only after I realized it’s not just about calories or workouts… it’s about why your body isn’t responding anymore.

I’ve been sharing that full story on my channel — what finally worked after nothing else did. If you’ve been feeling like your body’s fighting you, you’re not crazy. You just haven’t been given the full picture. 💛

  4. Thank you for this video, Dr. Becky! I've often heard that women in menopause have to work twice as hard to see the same results as before. Do you think there’s a specific combination of lifestyle changes (like exercise type, timing of meals, or particular nutrients) that makes the biggest impact for women in menopause, or does it really vary from person to person?

  5. BLOOD STOPS AND WEIGHT GAIN ? Belly fat what about lithium amd 144.000 during menopause when a woman becomes a man

I just seen a man with a vagina

    Wow

    Who's the man

    Iam

  6. Losing weight after menopause is exactly the same as before. It’s just an excuse to say it’s so much harder etc. it’s always hard to change poor eating habits and to move more and it takes discipline but it’s still the same process.

  7. My story is the other way round. Since I hit the menopause about 3 years ago I've been slowly losing more and more weight as I go along and I was only 12 stone to begin with. I'm now going to book an appointment to see a doctor for self reassurance if nothing else. I'm pretty sure this isn't entirely normal lol

  8. My Dr. decided it was a good idea at 33 to do a complete hysterectomy (no ovaries, uterus, cervix). I have also had my gallbladder removed. Put on a ton of weight then got on pellets and dropped about 30lbs. After 10yrs. trying to get off pellets as they are no longer working and switch back to creams. Already on Metformine 1000mg/day and all blood sugar/insulin resistance on labs is really good but weight is coming back. I do cardo like I'm in training 30mi. 30 days swimming or 60 mi. in 20 days water rowing and strength training with both. Visceral fat @11, 97lbs of muscle, BMRI 1367, so I am moving and the metformin already makes me not hungry so I am moving and was told by dietician that I am not eating enough. What else in the world can I do?

  9. I only have 1/3 of a colon and have had issues with obstruction… Have been cautioned to eat low fiber bread and white rice and white pasta. How can I disrupt this insulin resistance syndrome with my challenges? Is it possible?

  10. I just listened to this, and it all rings so true for me. I also feel there is a strong connection between too much coffee and not being able to lose weight because of the cortisol connection. I have a very stressful life and even with intermittent fasting and low carb, I am finding it hard to lose weight because of all the stress. It’s hard to be 70 years old and raising a seven year olds with high needs!
