Today, I’m going to share some of the amazing benefits of dry fasting and water fasting There are over 50 genes that protect us from famine and drought and produce many health benefits. Fasting can help you lose weight, burn fat, and live longer. It helps improve cardiovascular health and can improve your blood sugars.

A study involving birds compared birds who ate food and drank water, birds who only drank water, and birds who were essentially dry fasting as they flew across the desert. The group of dry-fasting birds generated 6 times more water than the group of birds that drank water! The dry-fasting birds also burned more fat.

When fat is burned with oxygen from the air, it turns into water. The idea that we need massive amounts of water was developed from a campaign that terrified us of dehydration! You don’t need to overdo it with water; you just need to drink when you’re thirsty.

Dry fasting is a useful tool for weight loss, but you want to ensure you do it correctly for the most fasting benefits. Follow a low-carb diet for a while before trying dry fasting. Once your body is adapted to fat burning, you’ll find that fasting is much easier.

Try water fasting before attempting dry fasting. If you’re water fasting, you can consume water, electrolytes, supplements, and sea salt. If you’re dry fasting, you don’t consume anything.

One day of dry fasting is equal to three days of water fasting! Dry fasting turns off digestion and allows the kidneys time to rest, allowing your body to switch into repair mode.

After your fast, begin eating gradually, starting with liquids. Kefir and bone broth are good choices to break your fast.

  1. I dry fasting 24 twice in week and go gym lifting more weights than normal and don't feel no pain no sore head and I tried water fasting afternoon feel very sore head and next day when no fast feel knackered and tired so I found dry fasting more easier

  2. I drive fast almost every day 8 to 9 hours and I noticed my stomach shrunk it got real small I can't eat a bigger portion of food which is really good so I'm spending Less on my grocery way less

  3. I'm on keto diet since several month. Did a 36 hour dry fast couple of days ago. No problem at all. When I broke the fast my body released a lot of garbage which I am pleased about.
Howeve since then I did a little research and some people say it out high stress on kidneys and may increase cortisol levels.
Grateful to have feedback from people on this! Maybe it is better to do a shorter dry fast 20 hour at most like Dr Berg suggests?

  4. I've started dry fasting regularly for one day (and two nights). The results are amazing. And I consistently lose a couple of pounds each time I do it. I'm feeling better all the time with more endurance and much fewer "old man" symptoms (I'm almost 57) I've noticed that I get less hungry with a dry fast. Just don't expect to be bursting with energy. I typically break my fast with homemade (live) sourkrout several hours before eating some eggs.

  5. I've dry fasted for 5 days, while exercising and trying to be productive instead of laying around doing nothing but the fatigue is a major flaw. I found a better way: drink water, salt and tea one time a day after waking up or before exercise, then dry fast for for the rest of the day and repeat the process. It's a hybrid dry and water fast that allows me to stay mentally and physically sharp and I believe it is more effective because exercise greatly enhances autophagy.

  6. Hmm, according to the Phoenix protocol it's more advisable to start with a (short) dry fast and then switch to a water fast, not the other way round. So what's your take, Dr. Berg? 🤔🧐

  7. So, we have all the genes to protect us from dehydration 👍
But our bodies are so stupid then when the drought comes to an end and we find a source of water, we have to drink it very slowly over a long period of time….
No one else see what a load of crap that is …. 😏

  8. Love it Dr, Berg, follow the Ketogenic diet to the tee, took Me 6 weeks to become fat adapted, water fasted for 5 days during easter holidays, the temptation was akin to Odysessus tied to the Mast of the Ship sailing past the Sirens haha, Now I see dry fasting as the new challenge I am currently 18 hours in. If it provides 3x benefits of Water fasting, this will be My go to every month.

  9. We do it every year for month in Ramadan from sunrise to sunset, no food no drink, it's the same concept, but the only problem is that people eat like crazy when they break there fast, so if they break the fast with reasonable good healthy food it will be perfect 👌

  10. "Praise be to Allah for the blessing of Islam, praise be to Allah for the blessing of the Holy Quran, praise be to Allah for the blessing of dry fasting that Islam commanded us to observe for 30 consecutive days for up to more than 14 hours, and praise be to Allah for His countless and innumerable blessings."

  11. "Please be extremely careful if you are considering dry fasting for weight loss. 🛑 Not drinking water forces your body into acute dehydration, which puts immense stress on your kidneys and heart, and decreases your blood volume. Losing weight shouldn't mean putting your organs at risk. If private coaching or expensive diets aren't an option for you, remember that you can use free AI tools (like ChatGPT or Copilot) as a safe, personal wellness companion. You can literally ask it to build a balanced, realistic meal plan tailored to your body without starving or dehydrating yourself. Please prioritize your health over dangerous shortcuts! ❤"

  12. Can someone help me please? I finished a 21 day water fast on May 4th, 2026 and ate some watermelon 🍉 on some days throughout the 21 days, my question is how many days should I wait to start a 7 day dry fast?
