💉 Struggling to Eat on a GLP-1? Here’s What to Buy at Costco!
The biggest danger isn’t eating too much—it’s eating so little that you risk slowing your metabolism and losing precious muscle instead of fat.
Today, I’m ranking 12 of the most popular budget-friendly GLP-1 foods at Costco from WORST to BEST, so you know exactly what to put in your cart—even when nothing sounds good. Not all protein is created equal when medications like Semaglutide (Ozempic/Wegovy) or Tirzepatide (Mounjaro/Zepbound) slow digestion. I break down the 3 rules every food must pass, the truth about Costco’s famous rotisserie chicken, why certain protein bars cause bloating, and the #1 food to help preserve muscle while losing weight.

Sam's club! Hands down my favorite place to shop. I like eating go gurts. Even if I'm not overly hungry I can always eat one or two. And I really like the protein drinks.
Thank you 😊
Aldi
Trader Joe’s please.
Love you videos DR Jones, I have learned so much. Thank you !! Sam's Club would be awesome. Jerky/meat sticks are my lowest on this list. Breaded and fried frozen I do not do. I started at 1mg of reta worked my to 3mg by .5 mg every 4 weeks. i have lost 35 pounds as of today. I eat one David protein bar almost every day. I have a rotissurie chicken once a week. i do do the lightly carbonated protein drinks Bucked up. my tartget weight is 225 so it's tough to hit my 1g of protein per target weight per day. it was a stuggle when i first started Reta. Thanks again for all you do!!!
If you're finding yourself not wanting to eat or having troubles getting in calories, then your dose is too high!
Bone broth for me when I can’t eat, or a bad day.
Could you do a vegetarian friendly one?
No Fish?
Fantastic ideas. I say no for the rotisserie chicken. I can very easily boil eggs. But making a few changes this is a fantastic list. Thank you.
I get the rotisserie chicken and shred it immediately when I get home then I’ll just randomly shove a handful of chicken in my mouth when I’m feeling like I want a snack.
I’ve also learned plain Greek yogurt is a great substitute for sour cream and an amazing base for sauces and I’ve become obsessed with it.
Doctor Jones we don’t have a Costco here where we live but we do have a Walmart. Any advice on what to buy there.
I eat more on my glp1 then I did just trying to eat in a calorie deficit without it and have been loosing steady 🤷♀️
Aldi please.
Good information! Thanks good timing- going to Costco now!
Thank you for all the great information, but i have to ask something. Do you have to take breaks for comments and advertising your brand so much. It is very off putting
Your video makes me feel like you're yelling at me your tone is terrible
What’s your recommendation for people who are about 8 pounds from goal and I haven’t lost weight in about 6 to 7 weeks but I’m a slow loser to begin with ever since my journey started. I only lose 2 to 3 pounds a month. Yes, that’s it a month but I’m happy at the weight that I am now another 8 pounds would be great but I’m thinking should I start taping down my dose?
This is a Fantastic Video. Thanks for all the information, this really helps
sam’s Club , please
I just found your videos. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. My doc just wrote me a script. I didn't know anything about a special diet. I am so overwhelmed. I have been eating raspberries and blackberries and watermelon almost every afternoon. I am SO not hungry. I lost a ton of hair, but do take vitamins. How much protein do we need for each day. Sadly my skin is just sagging because I can't get to a gym. I am so weak I cannot even stand to take a shower. I did lose about 50 pounds and then it stopped. I don't even have room to do chair yoga… I have just been laying in bed for years due to severe depression and anxiety. I really want my hair to grow back and my saggy skin looks worse than the fat. My eyes have hollowed and I look 10 years older. I feel like quitting. Do you think it's too late to even continue?
I keep hard boiled eggs in the fridge all the time. I use the rotisserie chicken in the fridge too. I can just grab a bit. I like to have the Fairlife chocolate protein shakes. I find fruit goes down well. So I’ll take an no sugar Greek yogurt, mix in 2 Tbsp of peanut butter powder and dip apple slices in it.
Every day I have the plain Greek yogurt from Costco, at night I put in my bowl with protein powder and chia seeds; in the morning before work I add the berries ❤❤❤
I keep the hard boiled eggs in the fridge all the time and thats breakfast many days. Just the thought of cottage cheese makes me sick even before the GLP1. Greek yogort is great, and I add fresh frozen berries. I cook most nights for my husband (who isn't on a GLP1) and I but NOTHING ever sounds good. He loves the chicken nuggets. We picked the least bad ones from costco though I'm eating less of them thankfully. As for eating, I have a bad habit from the navy of taking the meal and gulping it down as fast as possible. I then feel sick the rest of the day. If I eat slowly, I eat much less.
Can you do one on protein bars, I like Barebells but not sure the best. Thank you
The just bare spicy chicken strips have been my go to. Those go so hard, never feel sick.
Thanks for video 🙏🙏🙏
I'm watching one of your Costco trip visits, my question to you is how much full fat 5 Fage to eat for breakfast. I measure my portions with each meal.
Not everyone lives close to Costco.
Aldi, Trader’s Joe, Whole Foods
I would love to see a video on what to eat for vegetarians on glp1 meds for protein.
Sam’s Club please❤
Thank you for your videos! Your awesome
Sams
What about the Kirkland brand protein bars? It looks ok for a snack.
Protein coffee! The caffeine motivates me to drink, it's delicious and the temperature makes me sip.
Do Aldi next, please
Go to Target soon! I go through so many Costco sized tubs of Fage. It goes in smoothies, yogurt bowls, subs for sour cream, and turns into dressings sometimes. I buy a local brand of cottage cheese. The only things on your list I’m trying to limit are the salty, processed meats, but I completely understand their appeal. Bacon is delicious, after all, as is that rotisserie chicken.
I vote Aldi.
Thanks for this video
Can you do a video at Sam's Club
Scrambled eggs, pasture raised eggs only were and still are my go to. In the beginning when I could barely eat I could still get scrambled eggs down. They were a life saver. The prep is 5 minutes, the cooking is 5 minutes. Nice and easy. The other life saver is protein shakes, those I hate 3 to 4 time a day in lots of different varieties but I have that I call the poor man's protein shake every single day once or twice. Fairlife chocolate milk and mix PB fit peanut powder and that is so good it will make you weak in the knees. 1.5 servings of fairlife chocolate milk 210 calories and 1.5 24 grams of PB fit peanut powder 90 calories and a ton of protein. Then there is Slate protein shakes, Barebells chocolate protein shakes, nutri protein shakes too.
Excellent information
