If you’re unhappy with how your midsection looks after a hysterectomy, then this video is for you. because we’re going to talk about how to flatten your stomach after a hysterectomy. It’s essential to ensure you’re healing from the inside out and clear to exercise. If you’re ready to move more and focus on your midsection, I’ve got some great tips for you today.
I’ve helped many women regain their strength after abdominal surgery, including hysterectomies. Consistency and patience are key; it takes about six to eight weeks to see results. Nutrition and hydration are crucial, as well as avoiding processed foods to reduce bloating and improve muscle tone.
When it comes to exercise, focus on activating your deep abdominal muscles and pelvic floor. Start with breathing exercises and gentle leg lifts to engage your core. Once you’re comfortable, you can progress to more challenging exercises like crunches. Proper posture and alignment are also essential for supporting your core and improving the appearance of your midsection.
For more detailed guidance, check out my hysterectomy recovery program👉 It includes step-by-step exercises and tips to help you recover and strengthen your core effectively.

Hi, it's been 5 months of my abdominal hysterectomy. Can I join gym and take groove, step n tone and gluten n core classes?

Thank you dr dawn for these great breathing exercises. Theyre so helpful after ive had my laparoscopic surgery 9 wks ago🌺.
Good luck to you! I had a laparoscopic hysterectomy. You will be just fine with lots of rest. 💐
I’m 3 weeks post hysterectomy, not cleared yet so can I do these exercises already ?
i'm going in for a hysterectomy on the 4th of May 2026,wish me luck!
I am 4 months now had my hysterctomy, please advice belly exercise
i wore a binder all day and night for 6 weeks after my hernia surgery this past Dec and it did nothing for my stomach. But i am slim so maybe that is why? I'm 5'5-125lbs.
After full hysterectomy of four months I m suffering from uti infection I m taking antibiotics too it doesn't work much so can you please suggest some thing for better
I did mine in March 2023 and I remained with a big punch and I'm not happy with it atall
I’m exactly 8 weeks post op. I had a partial hys so I still have my cervix ovaries and a piece of uterus. My issue is with my extended belly and the bloating/gassy feeling. This was very informative and am curious about the physical therapy exercises vs what you’ve demonstrated.
Can I drink green tea after hysto?
super helpful tips. thank youuu
I am about 3.5 months post op. I felt great by day 5, but found around 4 weeks post op how much i was NOT healed on the inside. I had lost about 70 lbs and just started really switching to concentrating on major weight training a few months before my hysterectomy. I went back to work too soon, wasn’t eating enough, wasn’t drinking enough water and eating pretty much only protein. And drinking alcohol 1-2 drinks almost nightly, to relax after high stress long workdays.
My body did not like the lack of water, alcohol and too much protein-and I stressed my kidneys. Im finding this new still healing body is not capable of the damage i was causing it before surgery anymore.
I went back to the gym for the first time today, i have been walking and riding a stationary bike at home since 2 weeks post op. Oh boy, i can tell just how much muscle i have lost/weakened. I did leg day and i learned just how much work i have ahead of me. That lead me to finding you. Thank you for your videos!
I am only one week post op but I feel pretty good. But not sure I am ready for this though lol
I'm scheduled for a hysterectomy on June 25th. I welcome any helpful feedback. 😔
Someone tell me how to start
I did my hysterectomy one year ago and I want to lose this belly fat .and I don't know how to start
Thanks I’m 6 week post op…had abdominal hysterectomy 2/2025. This will definitely help me get back to somewhat normal.
Man Im sad I didn’t see this video a year ago after my hysterectomy. I love the nutrition info given. I specifically went to a dietitian to get this info and came out of the appt with no guidelines for healing. Never too late to start though.
I’m 4weeks after open myomectomy. Should I still use an abdominal binder? Is it too late?
This video is very helpful.. Thank you Doc
I am so frustrated! I felt great the first few days after mine and now a month pit my stomach feels bigger (and I’m walking regularly and haven’t actually gained weight ). I thought I would have a flatter tummy after the hysterectomy (I always hear how women’s stomachs stick out more cause of all our reproductive organs and now not having them I don’t see a difference). This sucks!
After surgery when we start this exercise plz tell me
I did my surgery on the 23rd of July 2024
Hello doctor thank u for the video. How long after I can start doing this excersice?
Never too late to start. I signed up for your course and look forward to a better me soon. Thank you so much
Excellent! Thanks
Thank you for the video 🎉
Hello Doctor, thanks for these tips. I am on my 4th week after hysterectomy and I feel that my stomach is tight while walking and some pain when getting up. And I also notice that my stomach is still swelling. Is this normal or something not right? I am worried that there might be a growth that I am not aware of.
I'm happy to see this video as I'm ready to do a bit more. You share some valuable tips for nutrition too. Thank you for being a big part of my learning and recovery. For others who are new, I just started physio and this all aligns with what the therapist recommended. Minor tweaks tailored for me.
Thank you Dr Dawn!!!!! You have been instrumental in helping me recover!!!!❤
I just had my total hysterectomy and this helps alot! Right now i feel that i will never be able to move in a normal way ever again but your video gives me hope! Are all these exercises good for your pelvic floor too or just the exercises with the ball?
