If you’ve been thinking, “What is going on with my body?” Today, you are getting your answers.
You’re going to learn the real science and brand-new research of perimenopause and menopause and the simple, research-backed changes that can help you feel stronger, calmer, and more in control, starting now.
For way too long, women have been left guessing about hormone changes, weight gain, sleep issues, mood swings, and why workouts that used to “work” suddenly don’t.
Most of the advice out there is outdated, generalized, or based on bodies that are not female.
That changes today.
In this eye-opening episode, Mel brought back her most popular guest of all time: Dr. Stacy Sims, PhD, to give you the exact plan on how to train your body to adapt to the changes, instead of just “dealing with it.”
Dr. Sims is a professor at Stanford and Auckland University of Technology, a world-renowned exercise physiologist and nutrition scientist, and a leading researcher on female-specific health and nutrition.
She breaks down why menopause is not the end of you. It’s just a transition, and with the right tools, your body can thrive for the next 40 years.
Today’s episode has solutions, including new information that goes beyond what has ever been shared on this podcast before.
In this episode, you’ll learn:
-Why belly fat shows up in menopause (and why it’s not the same kind of fat as before)
-The specific diet and nutrition that help with mood and sleep
-What happens to your brain, mood, sleep, and body fat when estrogen drops
-Why menopause is basically reverse puberty
-The #1 thing that changes everything in midlife: heavy strength training (and how to start in 10 minutes)
-The new cardio that works with menopause (short sprint intervals) and why “moderate hard” workouts always backfire
Bookmark this episode and share it with every single woman in your life. You do not have to live with symptoms that can be resolved, and you do not have to suffer. You can train your body to adapt to the changes – and you can start this week.

She has muscles but she doesn’t look like she has found peace and harmony.
Thank God for something else besides going on MRT!! Our Grandmothers did it without yet another quick fix!!! I own you menopause by naturally lifting and being a boss!!!
Explain 3×5 reps, does this mean 15 times in three minutes and then rest for the remaining 3 minutes. Please explain
Lactic Acid does beautiful things in our body.💪
amazing interview! Thank you ladies!!!
I actually watched this video two times.
Strength Training to Work the Nervous System (39 min)
Rate of Perceived Exertion (PRE):
A 1-10 scale for how hard an exercise feels to you.
Where 1 = super easy and 10 = the hardest you can go
5 sets take 15 minutes (3 minutes per set)
First 3 sets:
3 (3 sets) by 5 (5 reps) at 80% PRE (80% of the most you can lift)
3 sets
3 minutes each set
5 reps at 80% PRE each set set
For the rest of the 3 minutes of each set, rest.
Rest 2 sets:
2 (2 sets) by 3 (3 reps) at 85% PRE (almost 90% of the most you can lift)
2 sets
3 minutes each set
3 reps only at 85% PRE
For the rest of the 3 minutes, rest.
Sharing sharing Thanks ladies!! ❤
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Why is menopause not considered A DISABILITY 😩……. I am trying not to cry. Got my period at month 10 again 😣. Back on the waiting list 😅.
What is the ideal strength training if I'm in perimenopause and I've always worked
Out(combo of cardio and strength even through all 4 of my
Pregnancies)
Love love love Dr Stacey
Hoy florezco, hoy confio,
Hoy estoy en paz y felicidad ❤
Absolutely love this! I know I’m not alone but was starting to feel like I was and feeling like I was losing my mind. Now I know I need to change my workout.
Now only if my joints will allow for heavier weight. 😂
Thank you so much for this interview!
❤
I love this, thank you! ❤ Menopause is happening for us! Consistent weightlifting and high protein are the building blocks. We have to put in the work.
I loved it! so helpful and life-changing!!! That being said, maybe let Dre. Sims finishes her explanations before interrupting. But besides that, it was perfect!! Thank you, Mel
This is so helpful!. I’ve been wanting to find a path that’s doable and this seems really doable. I’m about to be 59 and I want to go into 60 next year a lot more stronger.
Wow, Mel! I accidentally stumbled upon your podcast this week. THANK YOU for what you're doing! I am just like you – post-menopausal, and had an aversion to exercise until today, but the light went on and a paradigm shift had taken place. Let's grow stronger together!
But PLEASE PLEASE get Dr Sims to elaborate more on hair loss and RELEASING overall tightness from the scalp down to the neck, back, legs all the way to plantar fasciitis, yep, had it for 2 years now and neither the orthotics nor stretches do now help!.. 😢 Now, in addition to obstructive sleep apnea (and I'm slim!) the pain and tightness in my calves keeps me awake! What would Dr Sims recommend to release muscular AND fascial tention?
Thank you 🙏🏻 🤗 that makes sense because really in Australia no one talks about it!

Her bisceps are majestic🙀
Busy walking listening to this. Profound information. Would love to know the vitamins she’s recommended again. I love these podcasts but she blew my mind away.
Was this filmed back to back with the first episode with Dr Stacy Sims? There's no way it's a coincidence that you are both wearing the same outfits, accessories and your hair is styled in the same way
OMG I am not American but I am so glad I found your channel. This is life changing! Truly thank you!!!
Very informative podcast 8:49
its very very good!thx
My sister is on a hormone therapy which is working amazing for her. However, she's paying hundreds of dollars a month. That's out of many people's budgets when we are already striving to keep food on our table and keep the bills paid and having to work out that much money , i'm wishing insurance would catch on to this and start allowing insurance coverage is on there and if somebody knows that they are doing that , please let me know 😅
I honest.nLy think there's a lot of women that would go on hormone therapy , but we cannot afford it
Does Clara Hartley’s anxiety quiz give advice based on your specific result, or does everyone eventually get the same recommendations? I’ve seen people talk about completely different issues, so I’m wondering how personalized the final explanation actually is.
This is amazing!! I'm going through this in my life and use these in the gym
I'm listening to you speak about the acetylcholine which is affected by people who suffer from myasthenia gravis me being one of them. I was diagnosed with ocular myasthenia gravis so how can I continue strength training and increase my estrogen which can help the acetylcholine and allow me to continue strength training.
With your knowledge can you speak to how all of these things work in the melanated body AKA black and brown women. We know that our bodies process vitamin D very differently so I would have to assume that there are other chemical processes that can also be differentiators and how our bodies respond to the lack thereof of these hormones.
Very Inpirational video!
