About the video:
Losing 40 pounds of body fat is no small feat. For most people, losing that much weight would get them to their goal weight and a much healthier, leaner physique. For example, if someone 220 lbs at 30% body fat, losing 40 lbs would bring them to 180 lbs and 15% body fat. That would also be a sustainable body fat percentage for most people and is a great goal.

This is why, in this video, I decided to share what I would do if I had to lose 40 pounds of body fat. This is roughly the amount lost when I initially went through my personal fitness transformation. The video goes over how I would approach nutrition for fat loss as well as training. Also, I go over tips on improving your activity levels by including more walking and much more. Most importantly, I go over the mindset you need to have if you have 40 lbs or more body fat to lose.

  1. “You will reset your taste buds and rewards systems.” This is actually happening to me right now, and my mind is blown. I didn’t think it was really possible!

  2. Down 44 pounds in 2 months. Only focused on 800-1200 calories a day. Not working out for the first month. Then I because slowly working out more and more. Helped me not quit. 29 male. Down to 291 from 335

I think for people who have trouble being this dilligent but enjoy lifting, there is no need to keep a log or journal. I personally do not enjoy the extra effort of tracking everything manually, I am fully capable of doing it mentally. I also have a simple plan that I tuned over 2 months, by trial and error while getting into the habit, so it was part of the process rather than another thing you have to do.

Lift often, lift heavy, and try to do better each week.
Then, eat better, slowly increase protein, slowly decrease useless carbs. Make it part of your life, and enjoy it.

  4. I highly disagree with weighing yourself every day I weigh myself once a week in the morning same day same time. Your body weight fluctuates a lot with water what you eMate and other factors weighing once a week eliminates a lot of noise

  5. I just dropped from 285 to 255 in 30 days, wanted to see what it took to lose 40. Not safe dieting and weight loss tip, there are millions of videos doing that. Dislike

  6. Frustrating thing for me is that I've been going hard consistently for 2 months and have only lost 2 lbs, which for me is basically nothing, its like .8% of my body weight. How in the heck is that possible. Eating on average 2200 cals a day, working out 5-6 days a week (push, pull, legs, rest each workout between 40-60 min). I've lost inches yes, but how is it possible to maintain at 312 on only 2200 calories. Before you say "you must be counting wrong", I weigh all my food down to the gram, (raw weight for meat) including sauces and condiments.

  7. I'm 90 kg / 1,73 m / 16y2m male
    My goals are:
    85 kg before 17 july
    78 kg before 1 september
    7-10% bodyfat before 2026

I weight daily. In the morning and the evening.
I started with walking around 10k – 20k steps per day. And 1300/1400 kcal diet + minimum 75g protein.

  8. I’ve really struggled with losing weight all my life. Im currently 390lbs, used to be 440lbs got down to 360lbs then back to 390lbs… the 80lbs i lost was a few years ago as a result of volunteering at a furniture shop coupled with eating cleanly. Then a whole lot of different shit happened from getting a desk job which fucked me mentally because it was just toxic (I still hope the place burns down), losing a close relative leading to me quitting my job, starting uni… and now im at a point where I want to make the right changes long term… I want to eat better and not rely on takeaways… I want to be physically fit and conventionally attractive but for some reason, this time round… despite me starting strength exercises and eating way more protein and moving more… im maintaining my weight and it fucking tics me off.

  9. For me I started at 255. Took me 6 ish months to get down to 220. Mentally exhausted of always being slightly hungry. I am switching to a lean bulk for 6 months to give myself a break before going back to a cut

  10. I set-up a channel to follow my progress. I crept over 205 pounds at my heaviest. Down to 190. It took a year. I think i can now drop the rest quicker. I'm ramping up diet and exercise to try get there for summer. The mental side is tough. I am doing an inverse of Mario's suggestion, I'm getting more stickt after a year, its needed though, progress was slow

  11. Im at 183 lbs 24% body fat. I've been working for 6 months. The first 4 months, i didn't understand what I was doing. I was only focusing on getting a ton of protein and ignoring calories. At the time, i was doing a PPL split. I put on a bunch of muscle, but also a bunch of fat. The last two months, i have been meal planning and watching may macros across the board and doing an upper lower split. Im down almost 10lbs, and i can see the muscle i didn't have before. I wish i had a better understanding when I started.

  12. Very helpful. What do you think about intermittent fasting? I’m doing it now and losing body fat but my concern is the long term practice doesn’t seem sustainable. I’m 64 yr old male. 6’ at 222 lbs. want t on get to about 210.

  13. I went from about 170ish to 145 over the course of a few months after getting very sick. I wasn't overweight, but I was the wrong kind of weight. It may have been an unplanned weight loss, but I have managed to keep it off, and plan on using this opportunity to recomp.

  14. I believe consistency is the key. No matter which month I always see the same bunch of around 15 people in my gym depending what time I can make it. They are always there and look good. The rest come and go.

  15. I have lost 40 lbs since July (6 months ago). I have stopped losing weight, but i'm not gaining weight. I have a lot of muscle now but I'm also probably still at about 25%-30% body fat and need to lose another 40 lbs to compete at the 200lb weight class in bjj. I'm 33 years old, 6'2" tall and weigh 240lbs and I eat within the ballpark of 2200 calories a day (stopped literally counting them now but I have a rough estimate and I am fairly strict with my macros) and I exercise for at least 5 times a week for an hour or more with a moderate to high level of intensity. What do I do to break this plateau I'm currently in?
