I am a lifelong endurance athlete – runner & cyclist. I am 44 and turn 45 in December 2026. Intensity has helped keep my body balanced. I've gained 20 pounds since 2018 to the present. I will get my hormones tested next month. I eat TONS of protein. Also, in August I am going to make some changes and commit to them, such as more fiber and a breakfast that jumpstarts the day but not restrict. I am running very well for my age and often win races in my age group. I have to admit I moved from a small town to the city, where I was DoorDashing some of my meals too much. August will also be "No Doordash August." Finally, I had stress with my parents aging and having a variety of their own health ailments. I am going to commit to these changes because my goal is balance not restriction. My body feels great otherwise. Thanks! Glad I found this video.
As of the last 4 months I can no longer exceed zone 2 without feeling beyond wrecked after 😢
Thank you for your useful tips. I'm going to try them.😊
Getting more protein and sunlight is great! I also found – I'm 45, hit perimenopause age 40. I am now completely symptom free. Natural solutions have included: Boron (its an essential mineral) which extends the life of estrogen, found in prunes. Eating organic chicken (great for estrogen), and having vitamin C (from seabuckthorn oil) any whole food vitamin c helps with estrogen in many many ways!! It's also great for bones. Also, I have root Veges, and get my potassium from swede, kumara, and I have 1 and a half teaspoons of sea salt on food over the day. Salt is great for moods, it's why antidepressants work cos they retain sodium. Much love you guys, there is a natural solution, I also have carrots, four slices a day is enough for me to get the mineral silica (needed for all minerals absorption and bone health), it helps me sleep and helps digestion. Much love – I hope this helps someone! If you have heavy periods, iron overload could be the cause. Again Vitamin C will help with that. As the most important protein in the body is called Ceruloplasmin, and it makes copper bioavailable and therefore, iron becomes non toxic (so you won't need to bleed for the body to get rid of the toxic iron). If all you take away from this comment is Vitamin C, you have the key to health :))) xxx
I dont believe in getting hormones tested as they are always fluctuating, so many des and specialists say its not an indicator
Such an honest and empowering conversation! Thank you for helping women feel seen, informed, and less alone on this journey.
You said your hormones are out of whack. I'd love to know after you got the test, what did you do then to get them back to the correct levels and did that help then with weight loss?
Thank you ! 47 next month , definitely going through peri right now. I had a mommy makeover three years ago because I worked so hard forever on myself and I am heartbroken right now because I keep gaining and cannot get rid of it and I work out a LOT. I am sure its the types of food. well again thank you for this personal take.
I am going trough this stage and I am totally confused;)
I gain so much weight in one month that I don't remember that I have ever had so big lawer stomach, and that the joke is funnier I was eating less than I used to 😂.
Today, I decided to educate myself on this topic, and I found out that different creators say totally different stuff.
One says eat fiber, other eat more protein 🎉
I don't have any other condition like brain fogs, or hot flashes, but I absolutely don't understand what is the best to eat.
So what do you think of Prof Christopher Gardner from Stanford’s take that protein is being eaten to much. Zoe interview
I am 36, increased my yoga practice and eating normal or less while intermittend fasting. The last months I gained so much in the belly area and I am feeling so tired and bad, that I thought I was pregnant, but I am not.
this sounds good, but I can't control the stress in my life, and i can't manage sleep problems. I have tried so many strategies. I will consider the diet and exercise advice, but for the most part, I have given up and lost hope.
I am right now struggling to lose weight and am in perimenopause. I’m literally doing what worked for me previously to lose weight, but right now nothing is working. 😢
The sleep thing is the worst!!! I am going to bed earlier, but sometimes I lay awake for hours. Then when the alarm goes off in the morning, I am fatigued and just want to stay in bed. I am trying so hard to avoid caffeine, but I also have days where I can’t function because of the lack of sleep and caffeine is what gives me the ability to get through the work day.
What about intermittent fasting of 16 hours, low carb high protein, zero processed food, and keeping calories under control?
Thank you so much!!!! I'm so relieved to know I am not losing my mind. This has been a process! I'm going to try all this!
Thankyou 🙏
I do shift work, so working nights it means getting good sleep is not always an option
This is very helpful. I'm 38 years old and suspect perimenopause…and I am in the process of trying to figure out what's going on. Thanks for your suggestions…my primary doctor wanted to put me on birth control and I declined…I need to see what's going on inside my body, not birth control pills. It's so frustrating. I will definitely check out your other videos.
Hello my dr did test and she said it was high and am going through perimenopause but am37
But but but…..icccsee creeaaaaammm 😂😂😂
You are so beautiful!
Does anyone know how to balance out hormone levels without taking antidepressants or birth control? Is there another way to do that or something else to take?
Thank you, will have to try some of this.
I too had a Hysterectomy and they only left one ovary. Never knew there were cold flashes until I had my first. Sometimes I am sooo itchy. Besides all the many usually symptoms, pain, emotional, etc… I find the Brain Fog is the worst. I have been called an Elephant and work, thankfully for my memory. Elephants never forget. I would remember everything at work and coworker’s appointments. I was like their reminder Calander. Now I forget what I am doing while doing it or forget what I am saying in the middle of a conversation. I put things down and then can’t find them and when I do, they are in weird spots, the freezer, top of the cabinets, behind the TV, etc… I am a very organized person. It is all very upsetting. At least I am not alone.
My Dreams have always been crazy and now they wake me up and can't go back to sleep.
Wish the Doctor’s/everyone would help more. If men went through something similar, they would have made/found a cure for it!
I’m 41. I had a hysterectomy in 2022. I have talked with my Dr and she says I’m too young for perimenopause. But I am clearly going through something. Thank you for your video. I will try these things.
I'm glad I came across this video. Thank you🙏🏽😊
So glad I found you. I’ve been working out regularly for decades- I eat a plant-based diet, and I haven’t really gained too much weight, but my body has changed since menopause.
I had tremendous hormonal issues in my 20s 30s and 40s so I was on a low-dose birth control to regulate my hormones that entire time. Now that I’m off the birth control and probably at the end of my menopause in my 50s. I am trying to increase my muscle tone, bone density, prevent injury and keep my joints moving.
So I am very happy to incorporate your exercises into my normal routine as far as pain prevention and overall healthy conditioning!
Thank you for all you do 🙏🏃♀️➡️ 🤸🏻♀️ 🧘♂️
woww you are a nice
Knowledgeable and slim perimenopausal woman. I wish.
Me personally, I started losing the most weight after reading the book Woman’s weight loss secrets: the unspoken truth, a few things you are mentioning in this video are also in the book
I hope all of you will find answers. Louise Hay has been a God send in my life.
All that stuff you’re putting in your coffee and your shakes they’re all processed! Why not just eat your meat!
What did you do to lower estrogen??
White noise helps me a lot. The unpredictable periods are traumatizing, palpitations 😢random night sweats 😢😢
The regular doctors are so clueless. Mine saw my 20ibs weight gain and didn't say or do anything. Even when i mentioned it to her as a concern 😟
I be so hot I walk around my house with all my windows open doors open I be naked and my neighbors hate me…they husbands like me though they be staring and speaking when their wives not around, head tucked eyes down when they be together 😂😂 I can’t help it I don’t have A.C 🤷🏽♀️ so I need all my air in my home circulating…I struggle with incontinence and frequent bathroom runs I can’t sleep a full night because I have to wake up 3-4 times in the middle of the night. 😮
Hormones are going crazy, there is no way a doctor can test with an accurate result!!
I’m 51 and still perimenopausal !!
Protein is so expensive no wonder I am in trouble .
